The Slime Get Slimier~Ernie Proposes Political Payback Job for Carlos Masso

The Face of Political Corruption
Fresh on the heels of the Hernandez's latest stolen election, the Justice of the Peace, 2-2 position garnered for his daughter Erin with massive voter fraud,  Ernie has been burning the midnight oil conjuring up yet another way to steal from the taxpayers.

Hernandez wants to reward Carlos Masso, the loser in the district attorney runoff, with a newly created justice of the peace position.  You may remember that during the primary race between Yolanda Begum and his daughter Erin, Mr. Corruption made a similar proposal.  Seeing that Begum was a more formidable candidate than expected, Ernie then proposed creating another JP position so both of them could have an office and Erin would at least be guaranteed a job.  That fell through when the Begum camp failed to bite on Ernie's scheme.

Yesterday, as democrats milled around the courthouse to witness the swearing in of the newly elected chairperson Sylvia Garza-Perez, Ernie was overheard working the crowd, getting a feel for how his idea to reward Masso would be received.

The New JP?

It makes perfect sense to the criminal mind.  The Hernandez camp was reported to be out of funds as the runoff wound down.  It was alleged by several that Carlos Masso picked up the slack, paying for politiqueras, renting vans to transport the elderly, disabled and mentally challenged to the polls, paying drivers.  That kind of political backscratching deserves to be reciprocated, proving once again that "there is honor among thieves."

Is there even a remote chance this bogus concept to fleece the public for the cost of a new JP position including salaries, car allowance, office space, etc?  Well, our political backscratchers on the county commission just approved raises for the mediocre, but long tenured clerks Aurora De la Garza and Joe Rivera, ignoring the public outcry.

  1. It can't happen, Jim. The Commissioners Court never acted on creating the JP 2-3 position when it was brought up in March. The item was tabled:

And it hasn't been brought up since. That ship has sailed; for this election cycle, at least.

  3. It was tabled not voted down which means that this could still happen. What do you think they were going to vote it down without knowing the results? If Yolanda would have won he would have created one for his daughter but since his daughter Erin won and Masso lost well he will most likely bring it up again to pay back Masso for his contribution to Erin election. It was Erin Hernandez, Carlos Masso and Abelardo Gomez running together and the only one that lost was Masso. The only reason Masso lost was Ernie wasn't able to influence ALL of Cameron County only Brownsville,TX. What a shame that these people will stop at nothing to steal the peoples money. Thank God Saenz won because Cameron County would have been up the creek without a paddle and the bad guys would be waiting in line to open up shop here with Masso in office.

  4. Jim, a new JP position is warranted. I actually have no problem with Mr. Masso becoming a JP. While you may not agree with me, and you may not like Erin H. Garcia or the Hernandez family, many people do feel that the JP's should be attorneys. I would support the appointment of Mr. Masso or any other qualified attorney ready and willing to serve.

    1. You miss the point. A county position should be created only when there is absolute need, not as a political reward, particularly when election fraud is involved. You are allowing your friendship with the Hernandez cloud your clear thinking. Cronyism paralyzes our county and city.

    2. It is also rumored that the New Democratic winner will nominate Carlos Masso to be placed on the Ballot for the Novermber Election even though Carlos Masso will endorse Chuck Mattingly (A Republican) on the November Election. Masso is a sore loser and will break the democratic rule to stick with the Democratic Party just to get even for losing to Luis Saenz. Ernie and Perez most likely will act suprised and state that the Republicans should have also placed somebody on the ballot for the November Election but since the cat is out of the bag they just might get somebody lined up just incase the new JP is approved. They are hoping to do it at the last minute not allowing anyone to react and sneak the new JP position and open the back door to Carlos Masso to sneak in. Peace

  5. Mr. Barton, the talk to create a third JP position has been looked at several times in the past. I'm almost certain that it is not a new idea.

  6. The corruption in the Demokratic Party of Cameron County continues. It reinforeces the local saying "In Cameron County we don't just accept, we demand corruption."

  7. Politics is the home field of the dreamer. Hernandez dreams big. He is free to do that, as an "elected" official. You may not like it, but simply throwing slime on him won't mean squat. I repeat: Brownsville has to find better candidates. Until it does that, the city will live & die by its losers. You can't blame them for believing in themselves. Your argument sounds like the crying of a child. Sorry, but that's how you keep coming across, Barton.

  9. Jim Barton, you are so brainwashed by Ruben Pena and company (most of them felons) you are fixated on hating Mr. Hernandez. Let me tell you something as a longtime county employee, he is one of the most proactive commissioners on the commission. You may not like the man, but get over it because he gets things done. That man has done more in the 18 months he has been in office than John Wood did in two complete terms in office. He makes hard decisions that are not always popular to some, but he makes tough decisions that are in the best interest of the county. You should try to bring to light all of the good he has done and not dwell on the negative that is created mostly because of blogs like yours.

    1. If you think Ernie Hernandez is good for the county, you simply lack judgement. You are likely part of the Hernandez clan. Is that you Doroteo?

    2. If you believe everything you write, well, you're simply lost. Writing helps spread the truth, but you can't slice it every which way that suits you. Once you're marked as being this or that rabble-rouser, well you're lost, Bub.

  11. Only in Brownsville! Ernie was going to give Gomez a park ranger position if he lost. Promising positions is illegal! Just like everything these guys do

  12. Did they not close a JP position to save money. Now they want to make another for a friend? Bad, bad, bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. They did not close the JP position up the valley to save money. Julian Sanchez was retiring at the end of this year. From what I was told at the county judges office was that the workload here in Precinct 2 is much bigger than the rest of cameron county. THey have 2 JP here in Brownsville and about 5 other JP's around cameron county that are handling the same case load as the Brownsville JP's. They are shifting one down to Brownsville to balance the case load.
