"Was that you that posted the AP article on the Villalobos/Lucio/Limas scam?" asked Jerry Mchale as he entered the home of Moses and Norma Sorola for a political pachanga.
"It was all so clear. The damn Brownsville Herald never ran any of that shit," continued the blogger/educator/coach.
For those of you who missed the July 11, 2012 AP article by Christopher Sherman, here is a quick synopsis of how the game is allegedly played in our town:
Abel Limas |
District Attorney Armando Villalobos' office prosecuted the case of Amit Livingston for the murder of Hermilia Hernandez. Villalobos steers the civil case to his law partner, Eddie Lucio. Livingston was convicted on 2/13/2007. Villalobos talked Judge Abel Limas into sentencing Livingston on the day of his conviction, a highly unusual move. Livingston was also set free on his own recognizance, releasing the $500,000 bond he had put up. That bond amount now became the settlement for the civil trial on behalf of Hernandez three children. From the $500,000 settlement, Lucio extracted his $200,000 attorney fee, then kicked back $80,000 to Villalobos for being nice enough to refer the civil case to him. Together, Lucio and Villalobos sent back $10,000 to Abel Limas for being such a team player.

Puro pinche viejito pedorro. Where are the young turks? Why is today's youth not actively involved in politics? By youth I mean anybody under the age of 55 summers.
ReplyDeleteSeems the only people interested in politics are all eligible for AARP.
Congratulations to this blog for figuring out in 2012 what DA candidate Peter Zavaleta said in 2008.
ReplyDeleteThe old die in an avalanche of yesterdays. You can see the angst in their faces, each and every one of them wishing they could turn back the clock. All of these bloggers live in wildly-insulated Internet mindsets, all believing the next post will solve the city's problems, set everyone straight. It won't happen, but they'll keep posting nothingness till all the pachanga tacos have been served, till every beer bottle is emptied, till they empty their bowels and bladders in an effort to keep that sewer system on the all-alert. It is simply another version of the nursing home potlucks, those evening tete-a-tetes that are thrown out only to show one is alive. Hopelessly, they beat ceaselessly against the current.

Of the two old white guys in the photo, at least one is a back-stabbing, self-serving bullshitter.
