According to Border Report and several other sources, high winds caused a brushfire in Mexico to jump across the Rio Grande River Sunday night near the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge, eventually burning over 130 acres between the river and Military Highway (U.S. 281).

Fire officials set up a command post to monitor the area which is near an extreme bend in the river fearing that a spark from south of the river could reignite the fire.

The Mexican side of the river appears completely charred.
