An undetermined group of criminals subdued eight people, six drivers and two security guards to flee in an unknown direction with six gondolas loaded with gold, silver, zinc and lead concentrates, each weighing approximately 40 tons, on Federal Highway 54, near the community of San Tiburcio, Zacatecas.

The criminal group attacked the drivers and two private security agents who were guarding the convoy, then unhooked the trucks' gondolas and presumably transferred them to other tractor-trailers, with which they fled in the direction of the port of Manzanillo, Colima.

Mesa Estatal de Construcciรณn de Paz

The Mesa Estatal de Construcciรณn de Paz reported that the tractor-trailers carrying the minerals had left the Peรฑasquito mine, the largest gold producer in the country, located in the municipality of Mazapil.

In a joint press conference, the Army, the National Guard, the Security Secretariat and the Attorney General's Office of the State of Zacatecas confirmed the theft, although they stated that the total value of the stolen goods has not yet been determined.
