Charles Lindbergh first flew airmail between the U.S. and Mexico on March 10, 1929, in a Ford tri-motor aircraft. The flight originated in Brownsville, Texas and went to Mexico City via Tampico.
However, many bags of mail went missing for a month, which became known as the Lost Mail Flight.
Lindbergh was an experienced pilot and airmail pilot before his famous transatlantic flight in 1927.
He earned the nickname "Lucky Lindy" after he was forced to parachute to safety twice while flying the mail.
