City Commissioners Roy De los Santos, Pedro Cardenas |
Our current District 3 and 4 City Commissioners, Roy De los Santos and Pedro Cardenas, have already announced their campaigns for City Commissioner At-Large B, an office to be vacated by incumbent Rose Gowen in May 2025 as per term limits.
An initial salvo may have been fired today in the form of a "Special to El Rrun Rrun" dated June 18, 2024, claiming that our local district attorney's office has received a complaint that District 4 City Commissioner Pedro Cardenas currently lives outside his district.

Now, while there are many available solo photos of Pedro Martinez, the El Rrun Rrun editor chose a photo of Cardenas with local restaurateur Robert "Captain Bob" Sanchez for his article. ("Let the reader use discernment." Saint Matthew 24:15.)
On this very same morning, this blog received two anonymous comments, one suggesting that either De los Santos or Rodrigo Moreno's Pink Ape Media had financed a "hit job" on Cardenas.
Whoever wrote the first note references personal knowledge of when Cardenas voted and when he sold his home. Is that you Pedro?
"I would bet Santos or Pink ape paid for this mornings hit job on Cardenas. Early voting started on February 20th, which is before Cardenas sold his home. The elections office can verify the exact day he voted. Another hit job by Montoya and those who pay him."
The second note has a link that includes a link to Roy De los Santos' 2023 Campaign Finance Report.
"Here is the proof Pink Ape is paying Montoya for Santos. You will also note most of the payments are for a past due bill. https://www.brownsvilletx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/14416/DelosSantos--Redacted?bidId="
The report shows contributions to De los Santos' campaign from Roberto Trevino, Denise Chavez, Erin & Ernesto Gamez, the Lucio Group PLLC and Linda A. De los Santos.
Under "Expenditures" the report shows payments to Pink Ape Media for $1,000, $2,000, $500 and $3,000 designated as "payment toward balance owed."
Now, our reader suggests that Rodrigo Moreno of Pink Ape Media had fronted this money as a loan to De los Santos, but I doubt Moreno operates that way. These are very likely payments in increments to satisfy an agreed-upon consulting fee.
The report also indicates that De los Santos gave himself a loan of $1,146.58 but only paid himself back $1,000, so by my calculations, De los Santos still owes De los Santos $146.58.
Texas Ethics Commission imposes reporting requirement on the likes of Pink Ape, Montoya and McHale. For the record concerning federal elections, the rule was already in place. https://www.texastribune.org/2024/06/18/texas-ethics-commission-influencers-political-ads/
ReplyDeleteExactly. Montoya will not risk his freedom for anybody or any amount of money. Montoya doesn't need to hide that he earns money for his writing skills. People hire him, people do not hire him, that is how it goes. He gets money, he spends the money he writes more and spends more money. Montoya should post his fees so that he gets more work. I am just saying.
ReplyDeleteMontoya is a cash based extortionist. Yes, Roy has Montoya in his pocket but all of this is being done by Zeke Silva. Zeke’s coffee shop is struggling and probably will not survive unless BCIC gives him another 500k (yes, look into how much BCIC has given Silva, roughly 500k). Pedro opened his pastry shop and has left Silva with 1-2 customers daily. This isn’t about Roy versus CΓ‘rdenas, although it should be, it’s Zeke going after him. Although I hate the bastard I have to admit he is not wrong on this one. Commissioners should live in their district. Who do they think they are running about living in other parts of town outside the district they represent. That’s such a CΓ‘rdenas matamoros mentality political play there. If CΓ‘rdenas is catching heat on this De Los Santos should too based on his current residence.
