Some of Brownsville's Best and Worst at Market Square
("Let the reader use discernment." St. Matthew 24:15)

Thinking about Market Square,
the location for Ben's funeral Saturday, the word epicenter popped into my rapidly-degenerating brain, but Brownsville's not an earthquake.

So, I'm going with aorta to illustrate how Market Square conveys oxygen, yes, the life force to the arteries and eventually even the capillaries of our town.

Or, maybe for spiritual dudes and dudettes, the word soul is preferable.

What do you think, Sandy Stillman?

Anyway, a few years ago, some poser suggested bulldozing Brownsville's sacred downtown, replacing it with more modern buildings, a dumb idea then, dumber now.

Think about the multi-modal not downtown, but positioned somewhere on Ruben Torres Boulevard where it would look like an abandoned church begging for a "For Sale" sign.

No.  Architectural art belongs downtown, not adjacent to Sunrise Mall.

Anyway, I've culled a few photos featuring Market Square from the Brownsville Observer, my worn out, irrelevant blog of 13 years.

A few years ago, former Brownsville blogger Bobby Wightman-Cervantes, said that, even though I couldn't write worth a shit, I took good pictures, so below is a montage of photos from Market Square:
