Donald J. Trump has been living sort of a charmed life with his standing among the MAGA base so secure that he can skip the debates while simply appearing on "alternate programming" courtesy of Elon Murdoch's X with hosting by Tucker Carlson.
While Trump has soared 40+ polling points above a batch of Republican presidential hopefuls, the man many expected to challenge him for the Republican nomination, Ron DeSantis, has hamstrung his own campaign with his mind-numbing book banning and silly fight against Mickey Mouse.
Even without those goofs, DeSantis lacks Trump's charisma, coming off as flat and uninspiring when he tries to talk, a style Trump could easily sell as "low energy" if he had the least worry that Ron was creeping up on him.
But, recent polling suggests Trump does have someone to worry about, Democratic presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who may run as an Independent and take away votes from the Republican con man.
Kennedy, despite his gravelly voice, is speaking words that resonate within the MAGA base, conspiracy theories about covid, 5G cellular technology, wifi and stolen elections.
RFK, Jr. preaches that covid-19 was engineered to spare Jews of European descent and Chinese, while targeting caucasians and Blacks.
Trump may be forced to address this threat, although it may be tricky, because he runs the risk of angering, alienating, disenfranchising those who've supported him in the past.
This might be a good time to slip some Orville Redenbacher into the microwave.
