And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh

BISD Trustee Minerva Pena |
Actually, on further reflection, the naming is appropriate as I always think about the profiteering Joe Rodriguez whenever I look at the million dollar scoreboard he sold BISD.
BISD Trustee Minerva Pena, ever quick on her feet without engaging her brain, sought political compromise.
"Name the concession stand after Mr. Rodriguez," suggested Pena.
No, No, No!
The concession stand absolutely has to be named after you, Minerva Pena, yes, with your image on the brightly-painted sign!
Anyway, Brownsville has a long, well-documented history of naming buildings and streets, if not concession stands, after our most self-serving citizens as in Dr. Juliet V. GarcΓa and Senator Eddie A. Lucio Jr. Middle Schools.
Of course, no one in this town gives a shit about what I think about our naming habits.
A dozen years ago, my suggestion of naming a school or street after Brownsville native Kris Kristofferson went over like a lead balloon.
And certainly no one on our dumbass City Commission paid attention to the residents of E. Fronton Street when they objected to that historic residential street's renaming after Anglo businessman Harry McNair.
Well, since you've read this far, let's present another idea Minerva Pena has never thought about; SELLING the naming rights for our stadiums, streets and school buildings.
Anyone on board with our city generating revenue by selling naming rights for H.E.B. Memorial Stadium, Spectrum Boulevard or SpaceX Early College High School ?
"Brownsville doesn't just tolerate corruption. We DEMAND it!"
so funny
