While Donald Trump let it be known he was willing to help out any way he could, including serving as Speaker of the House, one Republican leader quickly shot that idea down.
"That's not going to happen," stated Colorado's Ken Buck unequivocably.
“No, it shouldn’t happen, and we have a lot of talent inside the House. We’ll settle this inside the House Republican Conference, and we will elect someone that will have the unity and the backing of the full Conference,” continued Buck.
Former Georgia Congressman Vernon Jones disagrees with Buck and seems to have a plan should he be reelected:
“On Day One in Congress, I’ll file Articles of Impeachment against both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for betrayal of public trust,” tweeted Jones, “Then I’ll cast my vote for President Trump to be Speaker and invite my colleagues to join me. It’s time to throw out the old playbook.”
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan's bid for Speaker of the House Friday. In a post on Truth Social shortly after midnight, Trump said Jordan “will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”
For many Democrats, Trump as the Republican nominee for President and the highstrung Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House would be an ideal combination to run against in 2024.
