In a surprising, actually somewhat bold move, Mayor John Cowen announced a citywide briefing on the accomplishments and progress by the Cowen administration during his brief tenure as Brownsville mayor.
While previous Mayors Martinez and Mendez held a similar event perhaps a year or two into their administration, typically called "The State of the City," Cowen chose to celebrate his administration a mere six weeks into his four year term of office with an event labeled "Friday with the City."

Honestly, I've always found John to be timid and shy and his public statements are usually drowned out by crowd noise or overshadowed by the overwhelming presence of his proud Uncle Ralph Cowen.
So, it was with great anticipation that I searched for and found the link above to Friday with the City featuring Mayor John Cowen.
I fully anticipated my questions about John's leadership skills to be answered. Would he articulate himself clearly with a bit of emphasis and forcefulness?
Would he speak with confidence and poise?
Would he command his audience and sound like an actual leader in our community?
Well, clicking on the link above, "Friday with the City, Mayor's Update," I got my answer.
Someone with the city had deleted the mayor's comments leaving the message: "Live chat replay turned off"
The mayor's message had received a mere 220 "views" with zero comments and someone in the city had turned the damn recording off.
