CAMERON COUNTY APPROVES MASK MANDATE FOR COUNTY BUILDINGS, BISD TO CONSIDER MANDATE THURSDAY AT 3PM, CASCOS STATEMENT SUPPORTS MASK MANDATE

Voters will not simply remember Governor Greg Abbott's ban on mask mandates, but his hesitation to reverse policy during an obvious statewide covid resurgence fueled by the Delta variant.

What the hell, Abbott?  Is pacifying your hero Trump and your political standing with the right wing of your party more valuable than the lives of Texans?

Would you ban the boarding up of houses during a hurricane?

Damn you and your pussified leadership!

The major city school districts seem to be bypassing Abbott's inept governance and instituting mask mandates of their own to protect students, teachers and employees.

Dallas and Austin ISD's have already approved mask mandates with Houston next.

Brownsville ISD will consider imposing a mask mandate at their Board of Trustees meeting Thursday at 3PM.

Since a vaccine will not be available for those students under 12 until at least November, Brownsville parents are uncomfortable sending their unvaccinated K-6 kids into an unprotected environment.

This morning the Cameron County Commissioners Court approved a mask mandate for all county buildings.

Yesterday Carlos Cascos broke ranks with his slow-to-respond governor with a statement supporting mask mandates in our county's schools:

In Cameron County, we have about 100k students going back to school in less than a week. Many of which may or may not have been vaccinated in addition to not knowing whether or not their parents or family members have been vaccinated.

We as a community should stand behind our school districts and support them in allowing them to require masks of their students & faculty, along with implementing Covid protocols that each school district determines best for their campuses.

I realize this goes against the Governor's order and I will get grief & opposition to my comment, however, politics should be set aside & public health safety concerns should be at the forefront.

Now, if we can just get some common sense leadership from Governor Abbott, maybe deaths and hospitalizations can be kept at an absolute minimum.

  1. I'm tired of having conversations about Covid, the Vaccines, Climate Change, the stolen election, Masks etc... My days of trying to educate and convince, for the most part, my conservative friends aka Republicans falls on rocky ground that will not bear fruit. Kudos to the leadership that puts the health of it's citizens before adhering to the nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind.
