CABLER HOSTS UNIQUE EVENT DIRECTED AT BROWNSVILLE RESIDENTS OF INDIAN DESCENT

Charlie Cabler Addressing Predominantly Indian Audience

It may have been the brainchild of Cabler's campaign treasurer, P.K. Patel, a man of Indian descent, but it was brilliant.

The Cabler event, at Paseo Plaza, owned by Patel, included a large contingent of Brownsville residents with connections to India.

At one table was a vegetarian selection including jasmine rice, spicy chickpeas and a sort of Indian crepe, while in the back chicken was being grilled.

"We may later have an event with predominantly filipinos," Cabler told me, likely knowing I'm engaged to a filipina.

"We have a large filipino population here?" I asked.

"Yes, a lot of nurses and doctors here are from the Philippines," responded Cabler.

Cabler's biggest asset, in addition to Patel, may be his wife Rosie.  She met me at the door, explained the food situation, then, on my departure, walked me to my car, telling me the story of how she and Cabler first met.

"Have you ever written that out?" I asked.

"Well, no, not really."

"If you ever do, I'd love to post it on my blog."

From the editor:  I'm embarrassed that my group pictures were simply too dark.  I have a good camera, but I hate lugging it around and simply use my I-phone.  Nena always took the pics.

My fiancee' Ana, also a photographer, will take control of the photos once she gets here.

My friend, Daniel Lenz, who Brownsville desperately needs on GBIC, and Jonathan Bradshaw, the husband of Jessica Puente-Bradshaw, gave me a lot to ponder in extended conversation.

Fiancee' Ana Adiong was almost constantly in contact via Facebook Messenger.
