No, boys and girls, Kingsville City Manager, currently a candidate for that same job in Brownsville, is NOT related to TSC Board Chairperson Adela Garza, as some doofus swore to me yesterday on his Gideon Bible.
Adela herself cleared that little rumor up last night, although she said she'd met the man in Kingsville.
Garza, with actual Brownsville connections, did, long ago, work as an intern at the Brownsville Public Utilities Board, but later as a graduate intern with the Office of Management and Budget, San Antonio.
Also, prior to taking the City Manager job in Kingsville, Jesus Garza worked in Von Ormy, Texas where Art Martinez de Vara, the well known founder of the Texas Federation of Hispanic Republicans, served as mayor. Mayor Martinez de Vara was a principle supporter of Adela Garza when she ran for Congress.
In between Von Ormy and Kingsville, Garza worked in San Antonio as a city administrator in the city manager’s office. Prior to being hired at the City of Brownsville, the City of San Antonio was a former work station for interim City Manager Michael L. Lopez. Also from San Antonio, albeit the private sector, current GBIC Executive Director, Mike Lozano.
