We had prepaid, $100 to the doctor, $150 to the hospital. Nena, as she did recently during her four strokes, left the hospital early, just hours after the birth. We received a refund of $50.
Today, our son, a single dad to grandson Jack, has a totally different skill set than his mom and I, marching to a different drummer. We've not always been close, but today are closer than ever.
He likely doesn't know how much his recent statement meant to me: "Without you dad, I would be fucked!"
