Morgan mentioned a letter to all county Republicans she'd posted on the group's Facebook page. We reprint that letter below:
Morgan Cisneros Graham |
In this exciting time of competitive and contested primaries, it is also a time to remind ourselves, who volunteered to be elected chairmen of precincts in Cameron County, that we have a moral and ethical responsibility to be neutral with regards to the contested primary races.
I recommend that those of you who disagree with the concept that chairmen (albeit it of a County or precinct)must be neutral look at the comments from the grassroots regarding Sid Miller demanding the resignation of the Travis County Chairman for working on the campaign of his opponent. The feedback across the state is that a chairman who campaigns in a contested primary has a conflict of interest as we oversee the primary elections. Take heed, and put the will of one’s constituents before one’s personal biases. You’re public officials albeit at the most basic level of the party organization.
Some have asked me if it’s a rule, and as of yet it is not a bylaw however it would be intellectually dishonest to deny that the people we requested to represent deserve an impartial officer and representative. If you are a precinct chairman, you shouldn’t campaign for any candidate because you are no longer just a private citizen and have chosen to have the burdens and responsibilities that come with the privilege of representing your precinct.
Don’t do what we are tired of other elected representatives doing: forgetting their obligation to those they ran to serve. Learn from history, as Cameron has seen what ensues when we forget our duty to the voters.
Morgan Cisneros Graham
Cameron County Republican Chair
EXACTLY! We’re the ones working in the polling places and handling ballots and shouldn’t be campaigning for one candidate or another! That’s Democrat bullshit!
ReplyDeleteFirst my bias. I like Morgan because she is trying to bring more and more people into the tent. This will force Democrats to change how they do business. This is good.
ReplyDeleteOn this issue it was resolved in the 1970's. At two different conventions over 2 years protesters took to the street to stop the party leadership from getting involved in the elections. We had a small group of top dogs at the national, state and county level deciding who will run. A compromise was reached and the rules were to changed to prohibit national, state and county party officials from endorsing a candidate in the primaries.
In fact several elections ago, the Texas Democratic Chair endoresed a particular women for the US Senate. I lodged a complaint with the DNC and the Texas Democratic party and he resigned. If you google Austin Democratic Party and Precinct chairs endorsing candidates, you will see they are expressly prohibited from doing same.
Forget about the rules for a second. What would be the implications for the Republican party if Precinct chairs endorsed a candidate. In that precinct you will have people support candidate A or B. If the chair endorses A, those favoring B are going to mad as hell and refuse to help get out the vote for the precint. How does creating a dog fight betweeen your target voters help turn out the vote? All you get is people mad, and an ineffective precinct chair. While I will hold and only vote Democrat or a blank ballot for a particular candidate, I still believe by Morgan opening the tent to a more diverse party, she is going to help Cameron county. We all know the naysayers. They want an ISIS old testiment world where women are put their place, and anyone who does follow Jewish old testiment laws should be banned from the Party. Well news flash to these trolls- the trend is with Morgan, gentiles were exempt from these laws by Jesus himself. so stop your bigotry and allow Morgan to build the party. If she starts making headway, Democrats will rethink how they chose their candidates. This would be good for all concerned.

Blog squatter!
DeleteA county chair runs the election. They are the chief election officer of a primary.
ReplyDeleteA precinct chair is not the chief election officer or administrator in the county or precinct. A precinct chair can be the election judge but their is no rule or law that they must be part of the election as an election worker.
A precinct chair should be able to endorse.
That’s bull shit from Morgan that precinct chair should not endorse in the primary.
Eric Garza for SBOE
Everyone knew it was the Garza people all along, trolling, cussing, whining like little boys on a playground. At least they signed their name this time.
DeleteBut they work the polls.....
DeleteYou just want a bunch of little Hinojosas
Yeah, the CHIEF election officer. Which means there are lesser officers right? The same people who are precinct chairs. You just made her point.
DeleteCan’t believe it takes a Republican to say what we should have been saying all along. TreviΓ±o getting endorsed by Gilbert ring a bell? Campaign operatives handling our ballots every election? Fraud?
Dallas Democrats
ReplyDeleteCandidates for public office, in the Primary or the general election, or even in non-partisan elections such as city councils and school boards, may ask Precinct Chairs for their support and endorsement. Precinct Chairs are free to endorse, as individuals, any Democrats in partisan races, or in the Primary, or any candidate in non-partisan elections, but they need not do so. The endorsement and support of very active Precinct Chairs can greatly help a candidate.
It differs by county parties and their bylaws, Dipshit. Some counties have bylaws against it.
DeleteDammit Jim. The blog squatter is back.
ReplyDeleteThe only people disagreeing with her are the ones who intended to use their chairmanships to campaign for candidates and work elections at the same time. She did both candidates and the rest of us a huge favor by not letting anybody claim ignorance as to how they’re doing it unethically and on behalf of people they haven’t bothered to represent. Good for her!
ReplyDeleteThis is been going on for ever!!! It was about time Morgan!!
ReplyDeleteWe all know some of your precinct chairs who not only endorse, but to this day work for the Democratic candidates!!! Hellooooo!!!
In contested general elections? Wow.....who?
DeleteI completely agree with Morgan!
ReplyDeleteMorgan should use Young as her middle name. It’s her father’s family name. She’s just like her friend Jessica Bradshaw.
ReplyDelete“Morgan should use Young as her middle name. It’s her father’s family name. She’s just like her friend Jessica Bradshaw.”
ReplyDeleteShut up, Garza supporters.
She's now a Cisneros? Really? Her father Bill Young must be livid in his Confederate gray now that his mixed-breed daughter has dropped his Anglo surname and conveniently found her slave roots and now proudly displays a once-hidden Mexican name, a shameless act that reeks of someone trying to pass as Hispanic to reap political benefits fought for by real Hispanics. She tried bellying up to the big shots in Austin as a Graham cracker and found out the state capital republican club is filled beyond capacity with Alpha blonde females with gringo last names who are sharper and cuter, so now she uses her mother's Hispanic card hoping to sidestep the traffic and get a better seat at the show.

ReplyDeleteI don't know who's saying all that crap about Morgan but its bullsh#t. Morgan is a good leader and does well with everyone.
ReplyDeleteDoes well with everyone? That’s bullshit. Ask Eric’s team.
DeleteIt is bullshit! Ask Tad’s people!
DeleteShe does well with Tad’s people but not Eric’s team. Thumbs up.
DeleteMorgan hasn’t been partial to either side. Stop trying to stir the pot.
