Cameron County Sheriff's Department Spiraling Out of Control Under Sheriff Lucio, the Reynas

Two major incidents have rocked the Cameron County Sheriff's Department recently. Remember the August 24 incident off Pablo Kisel Blvd. involving Chief Deputy Sheriff Gus Reyna?  Reyna was involved in an accident he did not report.  Over $7,000 damage to two vehicles was repaired by a San Benito body shop.

Sheriff Lucio merely wristslapped Reyna, "handling" the matter in house.  Word leaked out that Deputy Reyna had submitted himself to "rehab."

Now, we've learned that Reyna may have been involved in another accident two weeks ago, this time involving injuries, and, of course, a county vehicle.  He again refused alcohol and drug testing, according to our source.

Another ongoing situation, as reported by Emma Perez-Trevino of the Valley Morning Star, is the reopening of the prison commissary contract  held recently by Rick Zayas and Ruben Cortez.  It has been alleged by our source that the real reason for reopening $1,000,000 contract is the introduction of cocaine into the prison.  

The time has long since passed for a thorough housecleaning in the Cameron County Sheriff's Department.
