Following the heavy rains recorded in Matamoros, resulting from the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry, the Water and Drainage Board (JAD) announced that accumulated rainfall in recent days is 6.5 inches, causing flooding in at least 150 neighborhoods.

To address the emergency, the agency deployed 250 workers, eight backhoes, six dump trucks, and four diesel pumping machines, at critical locations in the Fundadores, La Hacienda, and Los Γ‰banos neighborhoods.

Actions include cleaning grates, inspecting drains, monitoring rain gauges, and operating pumping stations.

According to the National Meteorological Service, rain is expected to continue throughout today, so the public is urged to take precautions and avoid littering.
