On March 10, 1929, Charles Lindbergh, a consultant with Pan American Airways piloting a Ford Tri-Motor airplane, made the inaugural airmail route from Brownsville to Mexico City via Tampico.

This was a major event in aviation history, drawing a big crowd at the Brownsville Airport.
