"Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow." Proverbs 25:18, New Living Translation
On this second day of early voting in our town, I received a call from Yvonne Barraza, a candidate for City Commission, District 3. Mrs. Barraza was simply alerting me to the fact that she'd sent, via WhatsApp, a report detailing false charges made against her in the campaign, but also emphasizing the importance of Christianity in her life.
Unfortunately, political campaigns in Brownsville and Cameron County have been sullied by misinformation over the years, usually offered anonymously. We won't lend any credulity to these charges by reposting them here.
Here's the link to an article we posted earlier this month about Mrs. Barraza's campaign: https://brownsvilleobserver.blogspot.com/2025/04/blog-post_89.html
Some may be disappointed that this article doesn't rehash the negative information being promulgated, but life experience has taught me that the best way to counteract lies is to simply live your life. Those who come to know you, observing you in various situations, will discern the kind of person you actually are.

can you post the report the candidate sent via whatsapp?
ReplyDeleteShe is a criminal… certified
ReplyDeleteDoes she think that people forgot what she did?
ReplyDeleteWhat happened? Tell me before I go and vote for her.
DeleteMaybe these false claims have traction because of the company she keeps as part of her campaign.
ReplyDeleteShe is dumber than a doorknob … can’t write a complete sentence
ReplyDeleteI predict she will come in last place
ReplyDeleteThat’s why McAllen is over all better than we are… we have criminals running for office
