Mayors John Cowen
of Brownsville and Beto Granados of Matamoros, along with several local fire department leaders, met at the Port of Brownsville Wednesday as Brownsville's Fire Station #8 received delivery of a new firetruck.  In a special "push-in" ceremony, firefighters pushed the firetruck into its new home.

Also, illustrating the cooperation between cities on both sides of the border, Matamoros Mayor Beto Granados accepted on behalf of his city a generous donation of uniforms, boots and equipment from the Rio Hondo Fire Department.

Brownsville Fire Chief Jarrett Sheldon noted that the new firetruck would protect much of the town's east side, "including the port, SpaceX, LNG plants, etc."
