DOOMSDAY CULTS EMBRACE CORONAVIRUS AS PROOF OF THE END OF THE WORLD

Depiction of "End of the World" from Jehovah's Witness textbook

Doomsday cults and TV evangelists see a silver lining in the coronavirus now threatening the human inhabitants of Earth.

Stephen Lett, for example, governing body member of Jehovah's Witnesses, sees the virus as evidence we're not just in the Last Days foretold by Jesus, but in the "final part of the final part of the Last Days."

For Lett and a number of my relatives who are true believers in the Jehovah's Witness religion, God will soon wipe out all of the planet's population so that those practicing the "true religion," the JWs, can start human society all over again on a "paradise Earth."

So, maybe the virus isn't a bad thing after all, at least for the "Chosen Few."

  1. OMG this is sickening!! How irrational!

Now, listen up congregation: FORK OVER YOUR MONEY!!! I'm not standing up here looking like an idiot for NOTHING! I expect to be paid for this and paid a LOT! Furthermore, I will NOT pay taxes for I AM GREATER AND HOLIER THAN THOU!!!

This is some nonsense! However, it's dangerous and demeaning nonsense and the worst part of this nonsense is that it encourages people to shut their minds and submit to an ultimate AUTHORITY!!! No wonder we have dictators in the world! Vulnerable people will fall for that!

  2. Donald Trump reportedly owns a stake in a company that produces hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug he has repeatedly touted as a Coronavirus treatment even though his experts say there’s no strong evidence it works.

Trump “has a small personal financial interest” in Sanofi, the French drugmaker confirmed.

  3. Trump has zero medical experience.

Numerous doctors have repeatedly said that any stories of hydroxychloroquine helping with the coronavirus have been inconsistent, spotty, and anecdotal at best. Experts have frequently warned against the use of an untested drug as both extremely reckless and dangerous.

So who do Right Wingers pay attention to?

Trump has said "What do you have to lose?" But several people have died from hydroxychloroquine overdoses by listening to Trump. The drug is well documented to have dangerous side effects - especially when not understanding the proper dosage needed for treatment. Plus those who have a genuine, proven need for hydroxychloroquine for treating their condition are finding it increasingly hard to find the drug because people are hoarding it all due to Trump touting it as a miracle cure. Not to mention the whole brouhaha over the drug has become a huge distraction to the medical community during a time when they most need to focus.

What is most interesting is how, in such a short time, the Right has become so passionate about the issue - all due to nothing more than Trump's say so. For them, its not simply about finding a cure for the virus. But just because Trump said it was the cure, then that became their new Truth. It is now a point of their dogma that hydroxychloroquine is *definitely* the cure and anyone who says differently are herectics againt the Chosen One! All based on nothing but a rumor Trump read off of Twitter.

It also speaks to Trump's and the Right's desire for miracle cures. No need to wrestle with complex, involved problems when you have magical thinking to give you simple, fast solutions. Just take this one pill and the coronavirus will completely go away and everything will immediately go back to normal. And obviously Trump will earn the Nobel Prize for medicine and be hailed as the savior of the world!

  4. For so long it looked like Trump was abusing amphetamines. He was saying crazy things, with more energy. But now the inevitable after-effects of abusing speed have overtaken him. Paranoia, extreme irritability, seeing conspiracies everywhere, inability to focus, to grasp the facts, and to accept the facts.

Trump is stumbling around like a boxer who is out on his feet.

  5. The utter unpreparedness of the United States for a pandemic is Trump’s fault. The loss of stockpiled respirators to breakage because the federal government let maintenance contracts lapse in 2018 is Trump’s fault. The failure to store sufficient protective medical gear in the national arsenal is Trump’s fault. That states are bidding against other states for equipment, paying many multiples of the pre-crisis price for ventilators, is Trump’s fault. Air travelers summoned home and forced to stand for hours in dense airport crowds alongside infected people? That was Trump’s fault too.

Ten weeks of insisting that the Coronavirus is a harmless flu that would miraculously go away on its own? Trump’s fault too.

  6. Someday, reports will be written about how the U.S. government failed in its response to the Covid-19 epidemic—failures that will surely have cost additional thousands of lives, additional millions of lost jobs, and additional billions (perhaps even trillions) in economic damages by the time this virus is behind us.

And yet while those reports will surely point out specific management failures and lost opportunities to arrest the spread of Covid-19, the most basic conclusion of those future reports could already be written: Donald Trump’s Apprentice-style staffing bake-offs and his oft-voiced predilection for acting officials kept the U.S. government distracted, off-kilter and understaffed.

  7. “The virus doesn’t ask for papers, for citizenship or immigration status. So if people are concerned about fighting for toilet paper at the grocery store — wait until there’s no meat and no vegetables.” - Domingo Garcia, president of LULAC

Garcia was addressing the lack of federal aid for America's farmworkers.

  8. FAKE FOX NEWS is a risk to the health and safety of Americans. They’ve spread false information that has certainly resulted in death and will result in damage to the U.S. economy.

They are not for the overall good of America, they have their own agenda and America does NOT come first. It’s never been “America First” it’s always actually been “Trump First” and if America get’s in the way of trump, America can drop dead.

Just like Hitler didn’t really give a crap about the German people in the end, they were just a vehicle for his own ego,

Trump in the end doesn’t give a crap about America. Everything and everybody is just a vehicle for his own ego. He is a disgusting, egocentric shitstain on the pages of American history.
