FORMER CAMERON COUNTY SHERIFF CANDIDATE JOHN CHAMBERS GRANTED AN APPEAL

John Chambers
John Chambers, a former candidate for Cameron County Sheriff, now serving 5 years probation on 14 counts of tampering with governmental records, regarding registering weapons issued to deputies, has just notified us that an appeal of his conviction has been approved.

The documents he sent indicate his appeal will be heard in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

The appeal was granted 1/10/18.

We will post the documents later tonight.

  1. I don't vote Republican and generally have very little sympathy for their problems (ie., U.S. Rep. Fartenhold in the district to our north). But this fellow Chambers was given a classic railroad job complete with a kangaroo court. Let's hope justice prevails. Sadly, he was never given a chance at the ballot box.

    1. He wasn’t given his chance because he was found guilty of 12 felonies by a jury who saw him on tape smirking and bragging about getting away with what he was doing. The person I feel sorry for was the election official who was required to remove him that he attacked and slandered and even the Supreme Court sided with her. So what now? The jury, the 13th court of Appeals that upheld the guilty verdict, and the Supreme Court of Texas are all conspiring against this guy? He’s just hoping that after new justices are on the 13th Court he might get a different outcome.

    4. Oh Johnny.....your attorneys had to warn you that a discretionary hearing is technical and won’t be about the facts of the case.

  2. This article should read “Chambers granted another appeal.”

He lost his first appeal. You can appeal over and over again and they usually get granted but with cases like his rarely is the verdict overturned.

Getting granted ANOTHER appeal doesn’t mean diddly squat. There are people on death row who are granted appeal after appeal for years. He guaranteed he would get his verdict overturned by the time he “would win the race” but months after LOST his appeal. It’s tough when you’re on video committing the crime.

    2. Somebody is spending a lot of time trying to look like they’re Morgan and then attacking their own posts looking like they support Eric.

You got a sock problem, Jim.

    3. Morgan is going to deny that last post is her again. Blaming everyone from Empower Texans to the Harlingen Tea Party to former precinct chairs to punchers.

      The sock’s on you.

  3. You morons don't understand how deep the CORRUPTION runs in South Texas. CORRUPTION has run deep in the south for many years stretching from local law enforcement, attorneys, city, county, and state district judges and all the way to the way to the 13th court of appeals. We need to have this case overturned! The vast amount of CORRUPTION that occurs in the Rio Grande Valley needs to be addressed because innocent ppl are suffering at the hands of the ones in power.

    1. How about they overturn the verdict of an innocent person instead of somebody that has years of documents about him being a bully mall cop?

Are you trolls going to continue to claim the granting of the PDR means nothing and most are granted.

The court of criminal appeals rarely gets involved in jury verdicts unless there were bad legal rulings before the jury got the case. This case has nothing to do with reversing the jury, it has to do reversing the legal rulings, which then mandates voiding the jury verdict because they got bad legal rulings.
