12/5/2017: CITY COMMISSION APPROVES UP TO $150,000 FOR CITY MANAGER HEADHUNTER

Search Committee
A glimmer of hope remains that the City of Brownsville search for a new city manager could become nationwide.

The following budget amendment resolution was approved:

10. Consideration and ACTION to adopt budget amendment Resolution Number 2017-069, to amend the General Fund’s Fiscal Year 2018 Budget to provide $150,000.00 in funding to hire an executive headhunter firm for the recruitment of a City Manager. (Pete Gonzalez – Deputy City Manager)

Commissioner Rose Gowen explained that the amendment gives permission for the search committee to spend "up to" $150,000 for a headhunter/recruiter to do a nationwide search for a new city manager.

Gowen chairs the search committee that also includes Rick Longoria, Joe Munguia, John Wood, Nurith Galonsky and Nick Serafy.

  1. Truly amazing! This Galonsky must be a very important person. She’s on virtually every board and committee in the City of Brownsville. What’s the connection?

  2. Mark my words, the city commission will end up selecting Pete Gonzalez, since he already knows how the "game" is played. Nevertheless, they will still spend our taxpayer money going through the motions of advertising and interviewing for the the best qualified person for city manager.
