County Judge Candidate Eddie Trevino Lays An Egg at Valley Interfaith Accountability Session

Ill-At-Ease Eddie Trevino at VIF Event
County Judge candidate Eddie Trevino was unusually snippy as he took the podium at the Valley Interfaith Accountability Session Monday night.  Perhaps, he realized he'd been outpoliticked by Dan Sanchez who draped his four year old across his ample belly for the entire evening, even while vociferously belting out hymns to Jesus and rhythmically singing "si, si, si, si, si, si" to the six "yes or no" commitments required by the VIF.

Sanchez' coup de grace was making an exit just five minutes before the end of the meeting, passing by the hundreds of parishioners with his kid still in tow, stopping to tell Co-Chair Father Kevin Collins he must leave because of a prior commitment.  Damn fine playacting Daniel!

Eddie Trevino, on the other hand, bristled at dollar amounts being attached to several of the Valley Interfaith pre-written vows:  "How do we know that $150,000 will be in the budget for lighting in the colonias?" he asked, "or if that will even be enough?"

As Trevino passed by the sign-in stand making his exit, one of the VIF leaders asked:  "Will you be accessible to us, Mr. Trevino?"

"Wasn't I accessible as mayor?" countered Trevino?

Actually, Eddie Trevino has been very accessible to Fred Rusteberg, Carlos Marin and the United Brownsville bunch who desire control of development of the FM 550 industrial corridor. Unfortunately for Cameron County, neither Trevino or Sanchez will be worth a bowl of warm spit to the taxpayers.

  1. How can he say he will be accessible to the people of Brownsville? He was not accessible to his family...he abandoned them......he is not accessible to his friends...ask Manny Vasquez who was helping him in the past why he is with Dan Sanchez now...because TrteviΓ±o would deny him an audience when he went looking for him
M at his law office. The guy is a jokeπŸ‘Ί

  2. Well I have more respect for Eddie Trevino for being truthful. Honest discussion about budgets and finance limitations are apparently not what these people want to hear. Promise them the world and a free taco.

"Si Si Si Si Si" If singing hymns, holding a baby and saying yes to everything, convinces these people. No wonder they are still in the poorest colonia in Texas. The poorest and least educated in the state, well, they keep themselves that way by lacking the common sense to see through yet another corrupt Cameron County politician's empty promises. I would be offended if a politician thought knowing the words to a religious song and promising me everything, without a realistic discussion on how it will be financed, would automatically guarantee my vote. Get real. Sanchez seems even more sleazy to me after reading this. Did he read any of their requests or just say yes to everything? Did anyone ask him how he is going to fund them, or what other projects' funding will be cut to move funding over to these, or is he going to raise taxes to fund these promised colonia projects? How can he promise anything without knowing if the county commissioners will cooperate? Taking advantage of those poor people's ignorance and hopes is just, bottom of the barrel gross.
