Dr. Lily F. Tercero, President of Texas Southmost College: After the Honeymoon

Dr. Lily F. Tercero, a bean counter or Chief Financial Officer for Alamo Community College in San Antonio, was hired in 2012 as President of Texas Southmost College.

The cautious, but extended grace period given Tercero came largely because she was not Juliet Garcia, whose cost overruns and grandiosity at the helm of what was the University of Texas at Brownsville will oppress Brownsville taxpayers and their offspring until 2034.

Tercero, as leader of the stand alone community college, TSC, has been a dud.  Few fault her work ethic, but see her as a workaholic without vision.

Tercero's connection and allegiance to Dr. Leonardo de la Garza, formerly of Dynamic Campus, is unethical and likely illegal.  Old crony Leonardo has racked up over $200,000 in consulting fees from TSC, while helping steer over $10,000,000 of business to his old firm, Dynamic Campus.  The resulting E-book technology has not been well received by students, being not only expensive, but reminiscent of the English used in maintenance manuals for Japanese motorcycles.

Complaints of a "brain drain," with skilled faculty departing TSC have been attributed to micromanagement by a so-called "slave driver."  Sour grapes?  Possibly.  Only those actually in the trenches can assess the current morale, but there are whispers of discontent and Tercero sets the tone.

Tercero's current contract extends through 2016 with an annual salary of $210,000.

    1. Good observation, but Eduardo PAZ Martinez, the obsessive compulsive who leaves anonymous comments on all blogs and who does not have a life......is much more feminine looking than Tercero. JMHO.

  6. Despite Donald Trump’s claim this week that he avoided serving in the Vietnam War solely due to a high draft number, Selective Service records show that the purported presidential aspirant actually received a series of student deferments while in college and then topped those off with a medical deferment after graduation that helped spare him from fighting for his country, The Smoking Gun has learned.

During a TV interview Tuesday morning, Trump--who spent his high school years enrolled at the New York Military Academy--said, “I actually got lucky because I had a very high draft number. I’ll never forget, that was an amazing period of time in my life.”

He went on to recall, “I was going to the Wharton School of Finance, and I was watching as they did the draft numbers and I got a very, very high number and those numbers never got up to.” The word “deferment” was not mentioned by Trump during his chat with the morning show hosts on WNYW, the Fox affiliate in New York City.

However, Selective Service records reveal that Trump, the fortunate son of a multimillionaire real estate baron, took repeated steps to avoid serving in Vietnam.

By the time his number (356) was drawn during the December 1, 1969 draft lottery, Trump had already received four student deferments and a medical deferment, according to military records on file with the National Archives and Records Administration. An extract of Trump’s Selective Classification record, seen here, was provided in response to a TSG records request.

In fact, the December 1969 draft lottery occurred about 18 months after Trump graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied business at the Wharton School. So, while claiming that he would “never forget” being at Wharton watching the draft numbers being drawn, the 64-year-old Trump seems to have misremembered, as candidates are fond of saying.

  7. In January 2015, I obtained a loan for 1,800 from Cowboy Car Title Co.. I'm self-employed and it was my "slow down" period for work. I finally paid off my account on this day, however, I want to share my payment history for those who might be considering using their service. I never missed a payment. Be aware that they charge a daily interest rate. This is why so many people have trouble paying back the loan. The interest payments far exceeded the loan that I obtained.

January 5 2015: obtained loan in the amount of $1,800.00
    February payment: $398.85
    March payment: 398.85
    April payment: 500.00
    May payment: 400.00
    June payment: 316.49
    July payment: 316.00
    August payment: 398.85
    September payment: 400.00
    October payment: 600.00
October payment to payoff the account: $720.28
Grand total paid to them: $4,449.39 for a loan of $1,800.00. They racked up $2,649.39 in interest.

I didn't want to have to borrow money from family. But now that this experience is over, I should have. It would have cost me way less and less time to repay. So be aware before you take their money. It will cost you more in the long run. Thanks for reading about my experience.

  10. Hey Trump, it's the Australians raping our women!

DALLAS — An Australian man is accused of raping a Dallas woman early Monday in her Knox-Henderson area home after he followed her home from an Uptown bar. Kurt Graham, 23, is being held on a charge of sexual assault in the Dallas County jail. His bond is set at $25,000. The victim, who is in her early 20s, said she and her roommate encountered Graham at the Trophy Room on McKinney Avenue.

The bar's manager said police were coming Tuesday afternoon to review video from surveillance cameras.

Graham declined an interview request, and said asked to speak to a representative from the Australian consulate.
