It reminded of the city of Santa Rosa, well, they run city goverment a little more coherent. What a joke, those lady commissioners, horrible, horrible plum horrible. Bob Sanchez for Mayor, and Zarate for city commish, what they need is a commissioners and a Mayor with cajones.

  6. John, Rick and Jessica have no balls or are just plain stupid, they could have put an item on the agenda to terminate the sale of Lincoln Park since Dr Galan was abstaining and it would be 3 to 2. Instead they're afraid to do anything smart and are going to wait till after the election when it's too late. I wish we had commissioners with backbones that realized that their vote counts instead of morons that are intimidated by the BS that Tony throws at I'm in a meeting. UTB is not leaving where they are at no matter what the commision does! Wake up commissioners and start representing the interests of Brownsville knowing that UTB is not going anywhere.

  9. The real issue is that UTB does not any land whatsoever. It will always be a satellite campus of a few thousand students to the main campus up the Valley. Julie did a real number on UTB and how is her office doing, any thing happening at the "institute". Of course not, no one would waste their time. How much is she being paid, probably over $250,000?

  10. WHY are you giving Brownsville property away mr. Martinez? I went to a UTB event this morning and saw VERY FEW students, VERY FEW faculty, half empty classrooms and you want UT to destroy a park that belongs to the future generations of my hometown? Are you even a Brownsville native? or do you just love that what is not yours and not from your pockets?

  11. UTB is gone and we are back like it was in the 1980's when we had UTPA Edinburg and UTPA Brownsville. Same situation, different mascot. We are already hearing that many students in Brownsville will be forced to travel to Edinburg to complete their degree courses. At least UTPA made an effort to allow students to graduate here without regular travel to the "mother ship". At the same time, UTRGB is requiring students to repeat courses to meet new curriculum guidlines....more money for UT System. And this mess is the result of the failure of Tony Martinez, Julieta Garcia and United Brownsville to effectively deal with UT System. So, now we have an excess of worthless property that UT System doesn't want (Casa de Nylon, etc) and so now Tony wants to give away Lincoln Park. If UT System pays a fair market price...perhaps the citizens will agree, but Tony wants to "give it away". Tony Martinez is a DICK!
And why does Tony wear a cold weather vest these days???? Is it because he feels the frost forming on his mayoral campaign.
