Juliet Garcia Lies to Advocacy Group About Lincoln Park

Speaking with a decidedly forked tongue, former UTB President Juliet Garcia engaged in dialogue with members of Valley Interfaith, an affiliation of Brownsville and RGV churches unitedly speaking out on issues affecting their individual flocks.

The meeting was held in Garcia's new office digs, Americas Institute, housed in El Cueto Building, at 12:00 PM Monday.

Garcia clearly stated to the attendees that she was "not representing the University of Texas system," then proceeded to do exactly that.  Former TSC Board Chairman, David Oliveira, joined Garcia as a moderator.

The thrust of the reach-out meeting was to pacify and explain away the City of Brownsville's decision to gift, convey or transfer Lincoln Park to the ultra-rich UT system.  Garcia tried to explain to the group from Valley Interfaith, that without such a transfer,  UT would have picked up and left Brownsville.

Garcia was unaware that representatives of Valley Interfaith had reached out to the UT Board of Regents and were told the exact opposite.  Garcia was caught in a bald-faced lie.  UT had no intention of vacating $200,000,000 of buildings paid for by local taxpayers over a 50 acre park tract.

"I guess you're right," Garcia was quoted as responding.

$270,000 "Paving Job," Paid for
by the Taxpayers
Ironically, the meeting itself was held in a taxpayer owned building, for which, the ultra-rich University of Texas is paying no rent. UT was forgiven a $270,000 three year lease agreement in exchange for "paving" the parking area.  Weak-kneed City Manager Charley Cabler allowed an amateurish spreading of a thin layer of gravel on an unprepared surface to satisfy the lease, likely at Mayor Martinez' request.

If Juliet Garcia does not speak on behalf of the University of Texas, who is she shilling for?  None other than current mayor and mayoral candidate, Tony Martinez.

  1. Juliet consistently used her position at UTB to lie to the local citizens and taxpayers while she practiced her doublespeak to benefit herself and UT System, for which shr served as a political whore and deceived us. She learned this management style from the Kardenas Klan; for which she pimp Ed out the taxpayers. It is interesting that she and Hillary Clinton are now having their lies and deception bite them in their substantial
    asses.

  2. Juliet was born Julieta Villarreal and then she reinvented herself and became the nasal Juliet Garcia. Shame on you Julieta! The best thing that could happen to Brownsville would be if you left and took the mayor and UT with you. We deserve better than the likes of you.

  3. Tony was ran for mayor as part of United Brownsville's effort to promote and support Julita's failed efforts to sell Brownsville and Juliet to UT System. They all failed and the taxpayers hold the bill. Juliet gave up in getting to be honcho of the new UTRGV....the money men in McAllen and Edinbur.....everyone out side of Uni Ted B'ville, who could not leverage anything but keeping Julet a job, but without a kingdom.

  4. So what was the outcome of the meeting?
Dr. Garcia knows the Valley Interfaith people because she, together with the late father Mathew brought the organization to the RGV in the early 1980's. She got out when she became the UTB-TSC president and worked the people to believe in her. The people did and we all know the results.

  5. Yes, but when this blog features in a flattering light prostitutes like Eddie Lucio III, it too does what it condems Juliet Garcia for - speaking with a forked tongue.

  6. Lol! You're a bit thick. This blog has never said ANYTHING favorable about the Lucios, junior or the third. What we did publish was a tweet sent to us by the third of his Charros Day ride in a convertible. We found it humorous that he would send us the self-aggrandizing tweet. Evidently, that went over your head.
