My Letter to BISD Staff Attorney Miguel Salinas About Potential Conflict of Interest in Handling of BISD Trustee Election
August 20, 2014
Mr. Miguel Salinas
Staff Attorney
Brownsville Independent School District
1900 Price Road
Brownsville, TX 78521-2417
Dear Mr. Salinas:
Please be aware that a potential conflict of interest presents itself in the handling of the coming BISD Trustee election.
If, as planned, the trustee election is contracted out to the Cameron County Election Office, please be aware that Cameron County Election Administrator, Chris Davis, is the son-in-law of one of the trustee candidates.
Joe Rodriguez, a candidate for BISD Trustee, Place 4, is the father of Monica Rodriguez Davis, Chris Davis' wife.
Will Election Administrator Davis be asked to step aside, not physically participate in this election or does the district have another solution to avoid the appearance of impropriety?
Sincerely,
Jim Barton

ReplyDeleteChris will probably find more bags full of votes like Rodger used to do?
ReplyDeleteIt's Brownsville. Everybody is related somehow.
ReplyDeleteDoes being related to the vote counter really matter?
ReplyDeleteChris Davis esta metido en todo. Pinche Republicano!
ReplyDeleteChris Davis esta metido en todo. Pinche Republicano!
ReplyDeleteMy MOST SINCERE thanks to Jim and Nena Barton, for looking after the best interest of our community.
ReplyDeleteNo person that is related by blood or marriage to an immediate supervisor or, in this case, to the person in charge of vote count, should EVER run for public office. THAT should be in our local code of law.
ReplyDeletepaper trail...You cannot change the past.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that Chris Davis personally counts any of the votes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not, But He Must Certainly "finds" Black Bags Of it......
DeleteNO PERSON WHO IS RELATED BY BLOG OR MARRIAGE, TO AN IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR ( IN THIS CASE CHIS DAVIS, ELECTION ADMINISTRATOR) SHOUTCAST EVERY RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE.
DeleteDID YOU HEART THAT JOE RODRIGUEZ??????
Where is CA VA on this one?????
DeleteChris is the son in law of Joe Rod.....hellooo! !
He may not count, but he "finds boxes" towards the end, depending on who the person is......
DeleteJim, would you please oversee this election? ?? That would be AWESOME Thanks!!
DeleteWe need to listen to Jim and the public! !
ReplyDeleteChris CANNOT OVERSEE THIS ELECTION! !
No matter how much extra it costs, Davis cannot be in charge.
ReplyDeleteNo person who is related by blood, or marriage to an elections' office administrator, or supervisor (Chris Davis ) should ever run for office......
ReplyDeleteDid you hear that Joe Rod????
Not only that, you are extremely old to carry on this task .....
Joe Rodriguez needs to remove himself from this race. Joe listen to the public before we humiliate you. Please!
ReplyDeleteJim why don't you inform the public that Davis reported this issue to BISD weeks before you did. There is no conspiracy here. The District decides who runs the election, not Davis.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, Chris or his cronies shouldn't oversee this election.
DeleteNot too long ago when Henry Najera was running for Port Commissioner, a Maggie Gonzalez told him "you are not gonna win because I say so, and I know why I'm telling you this"
Obviously you don't have to be a genius to put two and two together.
Coach,
ReplyDeletewe don't think you stand a chance against Mrs Rey, we know the kids and teachers deserve an honest person.
Joe Rod had his kickoff at the Half Moon salon.....hardly anyone was there other than the owner, Tom Chavez, and Rick Zayas....WOW!!!
ReplyDeletegood that tells you he will not win . he has been there before. need new blood maybe a woman this time. of course not wendy !!!!
ReplyDeleteYou mean not Shirley.
ReplyDeleteMrs Rey is got this one!! My vote is for her.
