Abbott Campaign for Governor Wants to Sell Me A Chance at Meeting BOTH Abbott AND Governor Rick Perry for $5.00

From the editor:  I do have five dollars lest anyone think I'm completely broke.  I'm just not sure how to spend it.  Subway is offering any of their footlong sandwiches for $5.00 all month.  A bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 stills comes in at around the same amount.  But, perhaps the most alluring opportunity comes from the Greg Abbott for Governor Campaign.  You may recall that last month the Abbott campaign offered to sell me a chance at lunch with Cecelia Abbott, the candidate's wife, for five buckaroos.  All though I never acted on the offer, Paul Simon's lyrics were in my head all month:

"Cecilia, you're breaking my heart
You're shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you please to come home"

Now, the Abbott campaign has sweetened the pot, offering to sell me a chance at having lunch with BOTH Candidate Greg Abbott AND Governor Rick Perry for a mere $5.00.  At the moment, I don't know how I can pass that up. . . . .

Jim,
General Abbott will be attending an event with Governor Rick Perry in Houston, and we would like some of the incredible Texans who have supported the campaign to join them.

Your contribution of $5 will enter you for the opportunity to attend this event and meetboth the current and the future governor of Texas.

So many Texans have already pledged their support and their vote for Greg Abbott in 2014, and we want to make sure to each and every one has the chance to win a spot at this event!

Will you contribute today for a chance to attend this event with Greg Abbott and Rick Perry?

Sincerely,

Wayne Hamilton

  2. Why don't these cheapskates go straight to the top and ask billionaire Red McCombs to finance the entire campaign? Since he is no longer donating to UT because they did not ask his opinion on the new football coach, he has excess cash sloshing around his wallet. This five bucks deal is very degrading for the Republican Party. I I know Lucio would not have lunch with you, Jim, for a measly fiver.
