Jewish-Born Marc Rosenthal Finds Christ in Raymondville Prison

Former Attorney Marc Rosenthal
Some of the changes in Marc Rosenthal's life can be explained simply.  His detention in a Raymondville prison since February, awaiting sentencing for his bribery conviction, has prevented him from driving his Maserati or drinking his beverage of choice, Ciroc Coconut Vodka.

Perhaps, the most radical change in Rosenthal's life, considering his Jewish background, was reported by KGTV reporter Sergio Chapa, at the insistence of Rosenthal's attorney, Ernesto Gamez.  Attorney Gamez claims that the former Jew has now accepted Jesus as his personal savior and has been baptized as a Christian in prison under the direction of Richard Hinojosa, the Senior Pastor of the Good Shepherd Community Church of Brownsville.

Since the prison would not allow a total water immersion as some Christian sects claim constitutes baptism, the good pastor, after "blessing" the water, "anointed" Rosenthal with the holy H2O by sprinkling it over his head.

Attorney Gamez reported that Rosenthal, since finding redemption and forgiveness in August, has become a devout daily reader of the Holy Scriptures.  "He's reading the Bible every day," Gamez was quoted in the valleycentral.com article posted online 12/1/13.  "He understands the rights and wrongs."

Attorney Gamez' disclosure of Rosenthal's reported conversion and repentence does coincide with his client's scheduled appearance Monday before U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen for sentencing. Rosenthal faces "a 20 year sentence for each count and/or a $250,000 fine" according the the KGTV story.

Rosenthal, a former attorney who has used fabricated stories and fake witnesses to garner huge damage settlements, has shown a propensity to share the wealth, improving his image.  Just last year rumors surfaced that Rosenthal was donating $1,000,000 to Mexican charities via Teleton, but, in actuality, the check was written for $10,000, not $1 million, but still a substantial contribution.  Campaign finance reports show that he gave an individual contribution of $3,000 to Gilberto Hinojosa's County Judge campaign, then added $3,000 more as Watson & Rosenthal, gave $5,000 to Daniel Sanchez' County Commissioner campaign, $3,000 to Enrique Escobedo's run for BISD trustee and $1,000 to Ernie Hernandez, Jr.

How Rosenthal's recent conversion and past political generosity will factor into Judge Hanen's decision Monday is anyone's guess.

  2. He has made a big mistake. In South Texas, you find the Pope, not Martin Luther. And, to all you cynics that think this is a craven attempt to reduce his sentence, you are absolutely correct.

  3. Just goes to show that he has no loyalty to anyone of anything.

  4. That asshole will never change, religious federal prisoners usually get a preferred treat, they usually get to go out with the priest to town churches, eat at the chapel and don't do hand labor jobs, Villalobos and Limas will find Jesus in prision too!!!!

  5. Ernesto Gamez is a manipulative DICK! And he is a short DICK. What a louse he is. Rosenthal is also a DICK, and is obviously willing to give up his faith as a public symbol that is just another "probricito" who should not be in jail. Rosenthal deserves to be in a big boys prison, not a local jail where anything can be bought and sold....even comfort.

  6. Rosenthal had Judge "Disable" Limas on the take, who says he can't get local sheriffs and correction officers to take his bribes and those of Ernesto "Hobbit" Gamez.

  8. He was corrupt and he gave money to the campaigns of self-serving politicians who would benefit from his corruption. Vote against them all next year.

  9. Proves once again that Brownsville doesn't just accept corruption, our voters demand corruption. That makes Gilberto Hinojosa, Dan Sanchez, Dr. Escobedo and the Hernandez Klan happy....knowing corruption is so popular here.
