More Anti-Democratic Bull Shit from Unethical City Attorney Mark Sossi

City Attorney Mark Sossi
City Attorney Mark Sossi came to Brownsville with a bad reputation and was successful in lowering it with one legal misstep after another.  Anything Sossi touches turns to shit.

This blog has detailed Sossi's ineptitude and lack of ethics in numerous articles:  $167,363 stolen from his previous employer, $20,711.66 pocketed from employee unemployment benefits as discovered by Texas Workforce Commission, two malpractice lawsuits from Brownsville citizens he defrauded, a $100,000 tax lien from the I.R.S., a totally fabricated pie-chart presentation before the city commission arguing against the broadcast of public comment.

The inept, incompetent and unethical Sossi is retained as City Attorney only because he does the bidding of Mayor Tony Martinez.  In any other city in the United States, Mark Sossi would be long gone, but Tony himself has no ethics and uses Sossi as his tool.  When Tony was spending taxpayer money on a high school "senior trip" to Columbia to learn how to ride bicycles, Sossi said those unapproved expenditures were just fine.

Criminals According to the Unethical Mark Sossi
Now, Mayor Tony has called on Sossi again to stifle democratic free speech.  With citizen's comments already blocked from broadcast by the insecure, incompetent duo of Sossi and Martinez, now they are trying to stop campaigns running against their preferred candidates from campaigning in front of the Brownsville library, a long-held practice in Brownsville.  MMB has been informed that Sossi sent Big Police to the library to tell campaigners for Martin Sossi, Letty Perez-Garzoria and Robert Uresti to cease and desist.

The dirty just get dirtier in this town.

  1. The City has no problem with people campaigning on the grass lot across the street from the Library. The Police informed the off duty Firefighters that they cannot campaign on the street nor could they impede traffic entering or exiting the library. All candidates have to abide by these rules. Remember the City (The Public Library and Veterans Park are both City owned properties) can be held liable if a campaigner is hurt by not exercising caution around cars entering/exiting the Library. I challenge you to look at the facts before you post your assumptions. To your enlightened readers, it appears you're trying to make a story where there isn't one. Dare to be great, Jim.

    1. Bob,

The story is that certain campaigns with candidates non-supportive of the mayor are being singled out for selective attention from the police, fire marshals, etc. These public servants are being victimized too, being commanded to play a political game.

    2. Jim, there is no story here just a desperate attempt to make political hay for your candidates. Even your At-large "B" candidate's fat son said "Lmao Gowen supporters busted by police! Hahaha" I thought Gowen was on Martinez's good side. If you could prove Martinez is doing what you are saying he can be charged with abuse of power.

    3. Bob, every elected official from this area, including congressional and state level, has campaigned in front of the public library without any interference from city police. Yesterday, city police were directed by the city attorney to remove campaigners from in front of the public library. This is called selective enforcement and it stinks. Get it?

  2. What's the difference between that and the county courthouse?

  3. Big police? Are you mocking our true local heroes (bpd) Jim? BUC has shown to be nothing but bullies. Attacking our currently elected official......who by the way are 101% better than the monkeys they are cheer leading for. Trying hard to get idiots elected to protect for their own convenience. They DO NOT care about our city.....just like to cry and plead they do.

  4. Let's see: you rail against the inept and incompetent Mark Sossi, yet endorse Roberto Uresti and Letty Perz Garzoria and Martin Sarkis? Find a standard and stick to it.

    1. The distinguishing factor that draws attention to Sossi is unethical conduct. The track record speaks for itself.

  5. Look at you last sentence, I think you meant to put Martin Sarkis, not Martin Sossi,
"library to tell campaigners for Martin Sossi, Letty Perez-Garzoria and Robert Uresti to cease and desist."
Can you find the report that aired on Channel 23 about this? Not meant for publication

  6. Not a true story. Sossi directed no one. His name was put on the card in case someone had a question about the ordinance.
