Roger Ortiz Saves the Worst for Last~BISD Elections A Big Mess!

Roger Ortiz

Roger Ortiz, the highly paid bungler, just can't get it right.  While other Texas counties had elections November 6, all Cameron County had was a mess.  Uncounted military ballots, uncounted provisional ballots, misplaced, uncounted regular ballots, premature announcements of election results and the introduction of the plastic bag as a replacement for the ballot box all marked Roger's last rodeo as Election Administrator.  Obviously, the suggestions sought from a state election official who monitored the July 31 runoff were of no help to Roger on November 6 and its aftermath.

Voters still may face a recount in the Position 7 BISD race between Jose Chirinos and Linda Gill-Martinez, that is if Linda and her sponsors at Brownsville Cheezmeh can come up with the necessary $4,000 to pay for it.

  1. Roger Ortiz has been incompetent throughout his tenure as Elections Officer for Cameron County. Incompetence, combined with loyalty to the Democratic party and the tradition of politiquera influence has meant disater for every election that he has "overseen". Carlos Cascos is not confrontational and can be easily overridden by slugs like Dan Sanchez, Ernie Hernandez and Sofia Benavides...all of who benefit from corrupt elections and the culture of fraud in which we live. Roger Ortiz is a DICK!

  2. You can waste your life blaming Roger Ortiz, but he's merely a cog in a bad machine. Seeing that seems to be the wall for individuals such as the one who posted at 8:38 a.m. Ortiz may have played a part in the perceived conspiracy, yet what stands out clear as a sunny day is the fact that others, perhaps collectively, are pulling the strings. Roger Ortiz would have to be both Patron and Dictator to be completely responsible for the local corruption - Patron to the populace and dictator to the covey of elected officials he serves. In the Mexican culture, it is the Patron who sets the proverbial table. He speaks and all listen; he whips and all feel the pain. What Ortiz does not own is the latter. And if manipulating the vote, or allowing for shenanigans is his crime, then, lads, it, too, falls under the general category of Browntown Bullshit, the so-called Breakfast of Vatos In Suits. If it isn't a Chalupa-loving lout selling roadside assistance insurance to the dumb it is an ambitious bureaucrat lowering your pants. The whining comes as steady and predictable as a holiday tune by Mannheim Steamroller; that is, some in town like the sound of all that, while the others fall-in as if captured by the rare happy mood. Roger Ortiz will soon be gone, left to the pages of that border tome being compiled by bloggers of various stripes. Oh, he'll be a footnote by the time that book is done, its characters all flawed to the bone, their physiques as eccentric as their time. Repeat after me: "Ha ha Ho ho and Hee hee..."

    1. Mr. DP-M, it has been awhile since their has been so many inconsistancies in the elections dept.. At the end of the day, it is the administrator who is responsible for the operations of govermental agencies.
I am sure their are areas he has no control, (ex;las politiqueras) but over all, he is responsible, "not his assistant", "no," Mr. Ortiz is the election administrator, and the buck stops there.
