"Most voters are unaware that Butch Barbosa was on Brownsville’s city council from 1989-1992 when he was forced to resign. While on the city council he was one of “The three amigos” as they were referred to along with Ernie Hernandez and Billy the “streaker” Garza .(Billy was called that because at a later date he was arrested by the Brownsville police dept. for running buck naked down a street.). The three of them ruled the city along with mayor Pat Ahumada from 1991-1992 until Butch was forced to resign. Some citizens referred to it as the gang rule . Nothing good happened in this time period and so many people were fed up with what was going on they searched for an excuse to get rid of any of them, until someone discovered that Butch was in violation of the Hatch act which prohibits Federal employees from being elected officials. He was given the choice of resigning from the city council or resigning his job at the Federal court house as a clerk.
Interesting enough the same situation might occur if he is elected to BISD’s school board, because he will be in violation of the state’s 6 month nepotism rule because his cousin Tony Barbosa was hired as a coach for Veterans high school on Aug. 1, 2012. Obviously from his past record he cares nothing about what the law is and will try to get away with it if possible."

Butch Barbosa knows the political ropes. He is Browntown through & through. A lifelong resident always has the upper hand in this damned town, and I say we should look at these locals as being at the corazon of the problem. Butch is the neighborhood horned toad, el sapo, the native weed. You can't really get rid of tough weed, but you can ignore it. Give Barbosa a pass. He is not the answer; he is the problem. I heard from someone who heard it from someone else that he has nothing to offer our children, other than yet another example of a bad choice. He belongs behind the counter at the federal courthouse and nowhere else.

Ernie has puppets in the city commission,cameron county commission,don't allow him to control the justice of the peace courts and now BISD through his compadre Butch Barbosa.

Why would an idiot (Cata)nod her head in total agreement of what Clupper was saying in a candidates forum? How can you publicly agree with someone that is running against you? Normally it makes no sense. Unless you are selling your opponent to the teachers (who don't vote) and she works her money for votes style of politics to get herself re-elected! Think about it!
ReplyDeleteHow about "None of the Above". Vote out all incumbents and do not vote for anyone with ties to said incumbents or interloper Carlos Quintanilla. The BISD Board needs a major cleansing as it has currently no credibility, period. The board has proven to contain only corrupt manipulator's and spineless members who sat by and watched it all happen while doing absolutely nothing to cry foul, whether locally or at state level, they did NOTHING. Therefore, they all need to go.
ReplyDeleteIt is so tragic, that track records represent people in this city care more about getting their hands on school & administrative funds instead of focusing on the students and providing the best education our tax dollars can buy. Over fourteen million dollars wasted due to the currents board incompetence and power struggles, have an astronomical negative impact to our schools over the next few years, not forgetting the negative impact already affecting our students with higher studentbody numbers per classrooms. This town has more schools than most big cities and yet, we have over crowding. Stop milking the American Tax payer's by allowing students who don't belong in our schools to attend, just so you all can keep a job.
