Friends Disagree on Cata Presas-Garcia~Maybe I Shouldn't Say Anything!

Cata Presas-Garcia with Rigo Bocanegra of B.U.C.
Rigo Bocanegra, representing the Brownsville Unions Coalition added this statement to the picture on the left:

"As we move forward and steer this BISD ship in the right direction,The B.U.C. Brownsville Unions Coalition overwhelmingly endorse Mrs. Caty Presas GarcΓa for her Re-Election bid for Trustee Place 5. Albert Alegria leader for BEA Brownsville Educators Association encourage Teachers,Classified,Administrators and Certified to support and VOTE for Mrs. Presas GarcΓa for a NEW VISION of Commitment to the education Community!"

As Mr. Bocanegra states, it was by the vote of the Brownsville Unions Coalition that Presas-Garcia was endorsed and he unhesitatingly supports that endorsement.

Since Rigo is a friend, I could simply say nothing, but then I would have to shut down the blog or look over my shoulder every time I type.  My personal philosophy is to respectfully state what I believe to be the facts, the truth and let the chips fall where they may.

Cata or Caty Presas-Garcia is toxic to BISD.  Actually, she makes a good case for eliminating school board trustees altogether as she serves the interests of the outside entities who want to suck money from the district.  Without $500,000,000 in play annually there would be no Presas-Garcias, Ted Parkers or Carlos Quintanillas flitting around BISD.  None are educators, only leaches, learning to play a system where Fort Knox is guarded by the narcoleptic.

If no one had discovered huge overcharges by Healthsmart at BISD and with the City of Lubbock, Texas, would Brownsville or Lubbock ever have heard of Carlos Quintanilla?  Likely not.  He had no natural connection to West Texas and he is no Cesar Chavez.  He is what he is;  a RICO convicted con artist with a mile long criminal record.  Ted Parker faced having 14.3 million subtracted from his company's bottom line.  He could hire good lawyers but insurance disputes come down to numbers and when crunched, they are what they are, despite the rhetoric.

Parker faced a similarly large lawsuit in Lubbock, slightly predating the BISD matter.  His defense was creative, yet cost effective.  He dispatched Carlos Quintanilla, the loquacious con artist, to stir things up, float some money around and elect new city commissioners who would drop the lawsuit.  The city commission saw what was happening and settled for the best they could get; $4,000,000.  Parker and Quintanilla won a moderate victory.  Brownsville posed a similar challenge, but Parker and his hey-boy Quintanilla got better results.  Q got with locals and formed a P.A.C. to defeat the incumbent BISD trustees and place candidates favorable to dismissing the 14.3 million dollar lawsuit.  Quintanilla considered Cata Presas-Garcia, Lucy Longoria and Christina Saavedra his bitches and told them so.  They called him "brother".

Promoting the Infamous Milk Scam
The end result was the dismissal of the $14,300,000 lawsuit against Healthsmart.  That was the predominant issue in 2010 and the issue today.  The lawsuit could be reinstated and Parker knows that.  He is not taking any chances.  If Presas-Garcia is defeated, Quintanilla has lined up Argelia Miller to replace her.  The board majority will likely continue.

Presas-Garcia herself is no dummy.  Parker is not her only suitor.  Linebarger likes her style and she likes the legal conglomerates money.  During the alternate presentations for the law firm that would collect delinquent BISD taxes, she took a potty break. . . . twice.  She only had eyes for Linebarger.

Brownsville's only hope to recover the $14,300,000 owed our kids is to defeat Presas-Garcia, Argelia Miller and anyone else propped up by Quintanilla.

  1. In Texas we have too many governments. In many states, the school board is not a separate governing body, but a board of the county (some appointed, some elected) who develop education policy and are not separate taxing entities. Those must depend on the city or county governing body for funding and are subject to more oversight than Texas School Districts. So, in Texas we have corruption to get that money controlled by poor management and corrupt management...but Trustees that are poorly equipped to run such an endeavor. BISD funds are fought over by lots of unscrupulus people who, like ticks, want to bite into the BISD veins for a taste of that tax payer blood. Alliances of BISD teachers and employees bother me as much, because their focus too is on their interests....which usually don't include what's best for the students or for the tax payers.

  2. The candidates beside Cata on that ticket are no light at the end of the tunnel for BISD... just the headlight of an oncoming train

One is Ernie Hernandez' old city Commission compadre who was forced to RESIGN from the City Commission.

the other is the clueless Cheezme candidate

    2. What were BUC members thinking? this is one of the main persons who uses politiqueros.....

  4. My question here is how much money did Cata have to pay for this endorsement? What I can tell you is BUC just lost all credibility with the public and particularly teachers. With respect to Albert Alegria, he may as well fold up shop and shut it down. No teacher is going to quit any competing organization to join a new organization that endorses one of two people that have caused so much concern and insecurity in their professions as has Cata Garcia! The other person is Sylvia Atkinson! Did BUC think that they were doing a service to the community by endorsing this evil woman? I am a teacher and I will get on the phone and call every teacher I know and ask them to vote against Cata! I will do this everyday until election day comes around. Cata herself, had already told some of her people that she was going to work nursing homes and politiqueras, because she knew she had no chance with the teachers. Well I hope that is true and I will work the midnight oil to see this come true! We have been striped of all funds to help our children, substitutes everywhere and testing right around the corner! What a disaster!

    1. Good for you! If all the teachers would do the same, she can be brought down. She could care less about what you are going through, no paper, no printer cartridges, and on nad on, but the board can hop on planes and take expensive trips to "conferences"... Oh yes, and do not forget what they did for their buddy Hector Gonzalez - how did you feel when you saw his paycheck in the Herald??? How'd that compare to yours? Teachers please, please get out there and get this self-serving, evil woman off the Board.

    2. ...Spot on !! These two are at the heart of the STAMP disaster as well. They destroyed the two best pathways BISD had(Porter's engineering magnet and Hanna's medical magnet)and created a hollow, phony 'College Prep' program. The kids in STAMP will tell you it is no different than the regular student body's AP course work that already existed. There are NO partnerships with the Universities they claim. Call any one of the universities they list as partners and ask just like I did. And for what, Cata and Sylvia ? To settle a score and/or create a monument to yourself?

I could go on and on....35 plus kids to a middle school classroom because retirees or departures were not replaced, no funds for even the most basic and necessary supplies, etc, etc......but CATA's cronies can knock down over $40,000 per month combined !!

It comes down to VOTING. If there was ever a time to speak up and not be immediately retaliated against, it is on election day !!!!

    4. It is doubtful that it is a "SANE" choice. I hope that before you vote that you have a conversation with Clupper. You will understand that your statement of sanity will be incorrect.

    8. I honestly cannot see how anyone in their right mind can vote for “Butch” Barbosa. He is extremely condescending and confrontational when one does not agree with his philosophy or whatever he happens to be peddling at the time. This is particularly noticeable if you are a male since “Butch” feels that fists speaks louder than words when he finds himself at the end of a losing argument/discussion. His aggressiveness has no place in public service moreover, as a board member of a public school district. His nickname appropriately defines his canine demeanor.

  5. Where is Caty getting all the money for her campaign??? Money from the lawsuits is the word. She has no steading income. She said she works for a large corperation, yet when someone asked for her there they said no one by the name of Presas-Garcia works for them. She will lie and say they have to keep her identity top secret; again another lie. Her lies know no end!!!!!!!!! Besides when does she have time to work, she is strong on the campaign trail everyday popping up at different events. Lies, lies and more lies! Triste!

Barbosa would be 100 times worse, even Pat Ahumada worked to recall Barbosa... says a lot. That's how extreme his corruption was with Ernie and giving ERnie's wrecker service the city business and all that.

    3. Clupper has no chance. It's a choice of voting for Cata or Satan

    4. A Choice of "Cata or Satan"? Heck that is one and the same. That being said leaves you "Clupper" as your best choice! Now do the right thing and vote for "Clupper"!

    5. "Pat Ahumada" was no gem for Brownsville. So consider the person who was trying to recall the other.

  9. Well then everyone needs to vote for Clupper. How can anyone say they would rather keep Cata then elect Butch. Is it like saying we do not want the evil surpent, but will keep the devil. How can evil be the only real option? You have Clupper. What is your problem people? Are you kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I am going to assume that everything said about Butch, Clupper, and Cata is true. What you have left to make a decision on who to vote for is this. Do you want a person that blatantly takes from the children to give to her friends, so they can give back to her? Do you vote for a person that may, in violation of policy, benefit from a vendor that provides a service to the district for a price, but slips a little back to the board member? Do you vote for a person that is 3 beers short of a six pack, will rant and rave with other board members, already suffered a stroke, could drop dead from a hissy fit in a board meeting, was not a very good teacher and is currently pissed off at the board? Logic tell us that we go with the person that is going to work with the rest of the board, will think about the children and employee's before their personal agenda. If you narrow it down to who will allow vendors to line their pockets (assuming that it's true)but will not break the bank or drop dead, you go with Barbosa! We have no other choices; this is what we have before us!

I don't know if its burnout or apathy but YOU need to fiend for yourselves because nobody gives a S**t about you. Get off your a**es and VOTE. I hope this makes some of you made enough to go out and VOTE. Put your vote where your mouth is. Mr.Barton don't let this issue rest----give it your all. I know I'm doing my share for our children.

I hope someone follows the money trail and exposes them. I think this was all planned to screw the taxpayers but mainly our children. This BOCANEGRA guy is a JOKE. Luci Goosey, Christina Wina, and Enrique KiKe knew that there was no case agaist BISD and had to make sure their buddy was given some money. So they SETTLED! They TOOK money from the CHILDREN to give to Gonzalez. DISCUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Hot of the press teachers! Got an internal scoop that there will be no $1200 for the teachers in two $600 increments. According to the insider, there isn't enough money and the bad news will come out later. I would like to know what did Cata promise to Bocanegra and Alegria to get their endorsement? Did she tell you the teachers and employee's where never going to get anything? Ofcourse not, but that wasn't going to come out until after the elections. I am not surprised, what a bunch of worms!
