Trailing Candidates Turn to Brownsville Cheezmeh for Boost

Cheezmeh Head Mistress Linda Castro, congressional candidate Denise Blanchard, Commissioner Jessica Tetreau and Justice of the Peace candidate Erin H. Garcia

Two candidates who trailed the leader in the primaries are relying on the online politiquera group Brownsville Cheezmeh,  led by Austin resident Erasmo Castro, for enough support to push them over the top in the runoff.

Erin Hernandez Garcia, of course, has been in the Cheezmeh stable since the get-go, along with Carlos Masso.  Hernandez has relied on Cheezmeh advertising as well a a group smear campaign against rival Yolanda Begum in the Justice of the P, 2-2 race.  . The Cheezers have been relentless in criticizing everything about Begum, from her Spanish accent, her makeup and the way she wears her hair.  Still, Ms. Garcia, the daughter of Ernie Hernandez, trailed Begum in the primary by nearly 500 votes.

Masso, on the other hand, is locked in a bitter battle with Luis Saenz for the Democratic District Attorney nomination and the right to face Republican Chuck Mattingly in the November election.  Brownsville Cheezmeh has taken out several ads in the Brownsville Herald blasting Saenz.

Denise Blanchard-Saenz, who trailed Filemon Vela in the primary by nearly 4-1, has also turned to the Cheezmeh group for support.  Denise was the frontwoman for two decades for the much-maligned Congressman Solomon Ortiz.  Also helping her now in the campaign is the personable Jaime Rodriquez, the former campaign manager for Anthony Troiani, who failed to make the runoff.  Troiani has thrown his support to Filemon Vela.
Don't Celebrate Too Early Erin!

    2. The Velas and extended family supported Anthony when he ran for City Commission, and Troiani supported Blanca Vela when she ran for Mayor. An effective team in the past, it's unfortunate they ran against each other in this race.

    3. Vela is winning by a landslide. Anthony isn't blind... only a few morons and loonies are still supporting Blanchard in this run off.

Troiani and Blanchard practically tied in Cameron County, only 96 votes apart. If he does have plans to run again it would be a dumbass move to support Blanchard who nearly got fewer votes than he did. Versus Vela, who swept Cameron County.

  3. At some point you have to stop with the baseless claims. The public - we are tired of it. There is no proof for any of the things said on here about Filemon Vela.

Denise wasn't for the poor - she cared about her retirement...that's why she went back for 4 years. Look at the records.
The public supports Mr. Vela because they know they can count on him for action. We don't need more posturing, we need action. Our towns literally can't afford more posturing. I even got a forward of an email she sent her inner circle asking them to help manipulate a myharlingennews.com poll. I mean, what is that?

We support Vela because he won't get lost in a sea of special interests and old (obviously) ineffective methods in DC (See Denise's twitter photos with the Turkish lobbyist).

compared to 30,420.00 for the previous quarter. (THAT IS FOR 3 MONTHS! A $6,000 raise in 3 months? Sounds like she is for the rich- herself in this case)

The latter figure was more or less the same as the previous quarter (04/01/10 to 06/30/10) when she received $ 31,590.00.
But even then, that was a nice increase from the quarter before that (01/03/10 to 03/31/10)

    4. Agree with 6:27,

Less than 5 years ago, BISD named a multimillion dollar school after a poor black teacher who used to teach in the Brownsville public schools during the 50's... Mittie Pullam. This made headlines as the school naming process is typically very political, and black folks are a very small minority in Brownsville, less than 2% of our population. Pullam had Alzhemers and had moved to Corpus years ago, so she was not even in Brownsville yet Pullam received overwhelming public support in the city and thousands of signatures. Tributes to her are still visible online from former students, principals, current and former elected officials. With no money and against more powerful interests, she was given the honor and the vote was unanimous. Worth noting that Blanca Vela, Filemon Vela's mom and Anthony Troiani both participated in the effort to name the school for Mittie A Pullam and are mentioned on their site. Pullam received overwhelming support and recognition throughout the city regardless of her skin color and her lack of money

Aycock did not lose because of skin color but he did come across angry, self serving, and accusatory, a lot like Filemon Vela's current opponent. Blaming his loss on race is kind of sad. He had some good ideas but the negative attitude must have turned off a lot of voters.

We know she isn't qualified or remotely intelligent. Voters with half a brain bailed on Ortiz years ago, unlike Blanchard still kissing ass in exchange for thousands in pay raises over 3 months and comfy trips around the world.

There's a word for her breed of ungrateful white trailer trash shit: Plantation Entitlement Bitch. P-E-B. Yep, lookin at choo, wannabe Scarlett o Hara and your white out of state friends *Jeff* who BELEIVE taxpayers DESERVE sending you on trips all over the world with wine tab included on the taxpayers tab. DON'T THINK SO.

    2. Like who?

Uh, her boss of 20 years, who was apparently glad to be rid of psycho employee and endorsed Vela, a stranger, instead of someone he worked with for 20 yrs (with negative results, obviously). Same story, as the historic first Latino Texas Democratic Party Chairman also supports Vela instead of psycho woman.

The Brownsville unions, who are aware she is a flake and failure not worth recognizing, chose to endore Vela too. Surprise!

who else? Gee, how about the even more pathetic effort she made in listing endorsments from groups who ARE NOT IN THIS DISTRICT!! What a loser! Mcallen AFLCIO?? I mean really, begging for endorsements from people who can't even vote in your district is beyond PATHETIC. It's Sad. S-A-D. Sad.

    3. As a Latina that has proudly carried my Hispanic/Latin/Mexican surname my ENTIRE LIFE, as a Latina that has endured prejudice, discrimination, and sexism, as a Latina that cares about this area and the people that live and walk along side me... I say NO thank you to Denise Blanchard. This election is about rebuilding and taking care of ALL our people (not just Latinos)... it is NOT about making a historical mark and filling the office with just any Latina. A real Latina knows what's important.

Denise Blanchard is not the right person and she does not represent me, a proud Latina.

Umm, before you poke fun at someone's language skills, you need to check your own.

It is 'campaigning'. It is fool, not full. I realize the two words sound alike, but they have different meanings and sentences end with punctuation marks.

Denise has never denied her Spanish last name, so what are you talking about?

    2. I know what you are full of.

  41. Oh! and by the way, Denise also has aligned herself with the curren corrupt BISD trustees!! Need I say more? I think NOT. My vote is for Vela.

  42. It's political suicide for a candidate to hook up with Cheezmeh. Erin and Jessica are young and dumb, but what's Denise's excuse? She must have some awful handlers is all I can say.

  43. Denise is being pushed on Brownsville Cheezmeh thru Ozo and Linda. They are very connected with Brownsville Cheezmeh. I have no idea why Erin and Densie would have so much trust on a DUMB ASS like Erasmo. He doesn't even live here or vote here. Why people fall for his lies is beyond reasoning and these people want us to trust them when we see who they put their trust on?

    1. Ozo? Who are these people? Turkish?

    2. It is "put their trust in"... not on...

  44. Erasmo has a very simple system of picking candidates to support; he and Brownsville Cheezmeh support the candidates who pay them. Early on, BC was promoting Saenz until he hedged about payment, so they went to Masso, who is paying everyone. Erin Hernandez paid from the get-go. Denise Blanchard, not really knowing the local scene that well, was persuaded to go with Cheezmeh, a big mistake. Most likely, all 5 of the original BC candidates will lose. Erasmo's career as a political power broker will be short-lived.

    1. "political power broker"... Not sure if that is a compliment or an insult...

Jim, you are mistaken if you think that I have received any money from any candidate. If I may give you my opinion Jim, it is always best to post confirmed truths and not someone else's propaganda my friend. I know that down deep you know that this is not true. Peace...

  45. Thank You Jim for simplyfing it. Do you think the candidates know the people they are surrounding themselves with? He tells people off and then demands people to buy their shirts. Everything Brownsville Cheezmeh does seems shady. If they do anything positive ( which is almost -0) they immediately ask for money. He is an instigator and likes people to fight with each other while he sits back and laughs. It is like what Satan does when he has people kill each other while he sits back and luaghs at them. He never shows his face or posts in his real name. A lot of people know who he is but he won't come to Brownsville. He wants everybody to be a man and he is The Biggest Coward EVER,

  46. Jim look at what has happened to Jessica Tetrau. She has become a politician slave to Brownsville Cheezmeh. Her position is way over her head and we had no choice but to vote her in to vote Charlie Atkinson OUT but that still doesn't mean she has to be their slave. They rub it in her face every time the can and they do the same with John Villareal. Both Jessica and John have bought BMW cars since elected in one year. They are at Brownsville Cheezmeh giving them inside information about city business. Do we really want candidates that will be slaves to this Cult Like Group? That scares me because they are not the best candidates and they choose to hide the truth about the candidates they are supporting. I thank you Jim for being true to the truth about the Brownsville Cheezmeh group and the candidates.

    1. Agree 100% with this post. They have videos of her doing....not so nice things, and now she has to be their slave. SAD, very sad. Poor Jessica, and John, well, we all know de que lado brinca la rana!!

    2. Jessica and John both bought BMW'S within 10 months of being in office. Before they became commissioners, they could only dream about them...lol

  47. No way can Jessica could wash that many cars and John sell that many tortillas to afford them BMW. If they could have afford them they should have had them before they were elected. Jim you and the original Cheezers were the brains of the group, now all they do is bash, speak bad about people and business. I asked my niect which is 22 if she has heard of Brownsville Cheezmeh and she said Oh Yea the Bashing Group. If you want to see people talk bad about you just go to their site and this is the kind of people they want us to support.. yea right. Case in point. If you want to be positive stay neutral and be true. This group Brownsville Cheezmeh along with Jessica and John have become puppets and neither will be re-elected.
