The Brownsville Herald is now the official battleground for the Luis Saenz-Carlos Masso District Attorney race. Brownsville Cheezmeh has run several negative ads against Luis Saenz in the past few weeks. In the Sunday Herald of May 6, Concerned Citizens for Cameron County responded with an ad of his own. The pic above is cut out from that ad.
"We just couldn't allow all this negativity about Saenz be published without a response," stated someone from the group Concerned Citizens for Cameron County. "We also wanted the voters to understand clearly the Masso-Cheezmeh paid connection. The negative ads Cheezmeh has been running are not the work of a watchdog group, but simply ads by a paid spokesperson. As much as anything else, Cheezmeh loses all credibility as an independent watchdog group, which they are not."
Notice Brownsville Cheezmeh and Luis Saenz in happier times. Cheezmeh initially supported Saenz. He helped them with events in Cameron Park and Los Fresnos. But when Cheezmeh asked for money, Saenz balked. So Cheezmeh went with Masso. Brownsville Cheezmeh's message to all candidates: "Show us the money!"
By now anyone with eyes should be able to see that Erasmo and Linda Castro are just con artists taking their facebook followers for a ride. Cheezmeh is just a front for these two to make more illegal money.

ReplyDeleteJoin the League of Women Voter's for transparency. The league does not endorse candidates ever! Its focus, is to increase voter registration through community events providing more opportunities for citizen's to register. Without all the political propaganda or nasty rhetoric.

ReplyDeleteErasmo is just trying to make money and this is a capitalist economy, after all. End of the day, business is business. However, that being said - he at one point was attempting to be relevant. It was Cheezmeh that put the extra heat on the spotlight on the failed Fly Frontera airline deal, and they did help to rid us of Charlie "Not a Real Sports Coach" Atkinson. Somewhere after that, Erasmo Castro and his merry exedcutives of Cheezmeh got big heads and failed to focus on what they were supposed to be doing: work for the public good.
ReplyDeleteInstead of intellectual reasoning and debate with concrete discourse, he chides people and berates them with his vulgarity. He takes dropping the F-bomb to a level that makes Ozzy Osborne, Lewis Black, and George Carlin all look like Sunday school teachers.
The worst part is that in his bid to be the voice of the voiceless of Brownsville, Erasmo and Cheezmeh lost their combined focus. Travis County resident Erasmo Castro now balks when people ask him about funding - which is ironic, given that he himself always asks public officials about funding. Worse, every time someone posts material he finds offensive to his person, Erasmo Castro's first run-to response is "why do you hate me?" or "if you don't like it, get the f**k off my page!" or "just delete me, you a**ho*e!" or some vulgarity or hate speech.
Likewise, Austin resident Erasmo Castro and his team at Brownsville Cheezmeh make a big deal about not bashing on women and respect of women. That is a good thing, we can all agree. Now, let us look at the obverse of the coin: the first person to berate, belittle, cuss out and spew hate-filled rhetoric at women online IS Erasmo Castro when a woman questions his campaign finances, his goals, or his motives. One woman asked a simple question regarding the Castro-Masso connection, and he not only belittled her, he ranted on her, spat his usual colorful vulgarities, and pronounced her a hater and a bully. When another woman chimed in to point out that no one cursed, his response did not evoke one shred of decency to women at all - in fact, he posted some additional colorful vulgarities at her.
The problem is, of course, that Erasmo Castro cannot claim to be the voice of the people, to focus on transparency, to ask public officials to disclose items - then in the next breath get mad when his own supporters ask him to walk the walk he expects others to walk. On the road to journalistic credibility, Travis County voter Erasmo Castro lost his way, and his compass pointed "Due Profit" and forgot why he founded what he founded.
Sadly, for a man with as many years of academic study (be it online or otherwise), one would expect Austinite Erasmo Castro & his online personae Cheezmeh to have a more robust and deep vocabulary in tune with his years of academic expression. Likewise, for someone who claims to be a man of God, he is the first one to fire off hate, anger, venom, vulgarity, filth, and epithets at people who ask innocent questions. Perhaps he is invoking more of the Old Testament fire-and-brimstone approach, though I do not recall any of the major or minor prophets from the first half of the Bible to ever berate their people with "F**k off if you don't like it!" - not something that would have quite rolled off the tongue of Habbakuk, Moses, Abraham, or Zecharia, David, et. al. In fact, suffice it to say they would have made more poignant arguments to their cause.
Which is something that Austin resident Castro should think about. If he wants to remain truly relevant, he may wish to clean up his tone, make positive his rhetoric, turn down the hate-filled speech, quit the vulgarities, issue some serious mea maxima culpas and go back to being the voice of balance & reason, not anger & venom. There was once a great vision of Cheezmeh - whatever it is now certainly is not what it was supposed to be.

They have become the First OnLine Politiqueras. The are prostitues sold to the highest bidders. They have done anything positive for Brownsville. Hell they don't even have jobs. All they do is go around asking for money and if you don't give them any they bash you and ask everyone else to do the same. They are hateful, vengeful people with no morals. They write whatever they feel will get attention of their readers. Lies is something they are used to posting. The people are tired of the New Brownsville Cheezmeh. The New OnLine Politiqueras is what they have become.
