GSA Scandal Video~General Services Administration Party Reveals Attitude Toward Taxpayer Dollars

BY EFREM GRAHAM

The White House and Congress have more reasons Friday to be outraged at the General Services Administration employees under investigation for lavishly partying away taxpayers' money.

The Office of Inspector General has uncovered a disturbing video that shows a GSA worker dreaming about wasting the government's money.

In the video, the worker raps about how he dreams of being the commissioner and wasting the government's money on cash bonuses to his fellow bureaucrats.

Although the GSA's mission is to help the government keep its costs down, the agency is in the middle of a scandal for a 2010 conference in Las Vegas that cost an estimated $800,000.

Those expenses included more than $3,000 on a mind reader and motivational speaker and more than $6,000 for commemorative coins and velvet boxes.

The video in question, which was part of an employee talent show, is now part of an OIG investigation.

The probe has lead to resignation of GSA chief Martha Johnson.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the agency called the video "another example of the complete lack of judgment exhibited during the ... conference. Our agency continues to be appalled by this indefensible behavior."

Those comments echo those of Congress and the president, who condemned the excessive spending and disregard for taxpayer dollars.

But critics say the Obama administration knew about the conference 11 months ago and is only responding because the public is now aware of scandal.

  1. All taxing entities seem to have the same disregard for the taxpayers money and the taxpayer. The tax dollars seem to empower officials to do things like the GSA did. The government keeps telling the citizens to tighten their belts, while the government entities splurge like this, or waste money or defraud the taxpayers. GSA is a good example of what government officials think about us....and how they use our money.

  2. Just today another story @ AP how Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has commuted on military aircraft to his home in northern California 27 since he took over the Pentagon in July, to the tune of $860,000.00 to which he paid-get this-a whopping $17,000.
Yet another one where our BRILLIANT DUMBOCRATS at the Department of Energy announced Thursday a $100,000 prize for software developers to come up with mobile applications to tell consumers how much energy they are using. One problem there's already dozens of apps for that in the market!!!!!
Bottom line all this wasteful spending just got really out of hand since 2007 when the DUMBOCRATS GAIN CONTROL in Washington and since obamie it's totally out of control to the "10th power".
What are the local DUMBOCRATS doing, the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Bush, a Republican, wasted our surplus and put us in a deficit. Our own ex-Congressman Solomon Ortiz, a Democrat, wasted $21 million dollars on the bridge to nowhere at the port. Wasteful spending is not a party issue. It is individual candidates, supporters and employees who run for office because to them government is synonymous with 'money tree' that are the root of the problem. This is why it is important to vote for people who have shown themselves to be efficient and successful in their personal business affairs. Too many moochers, ex-moochers and wanna-be moochers running for office these days.
