In the last City Commission meeting the mealy-mouthed Purchasing Director Robert C. Luna shared documents with the commission listing 9 acknowledgements from a list of 10 contractors and proposing to award contracts to 5 contractors for demolition services. Prior to the last city commission meeting 2/21/12 Commissioner Melissa Zamora took it upon herself to call all 10 contractors listed. 5 of the contractors on the list told Ms. Zamora they had NOT been contacted by the city. Quick on his feet, Robert C. Luna said his paperwork must have a typo.
At the 3/6/12 commission meeting, Commissioner Zamora, seemingly weary of Luna's evasive tactics, again mentioned the paperwork discrepancies, also mentioning the change from 5 contractual awards to 3. Luna again insisted the discrepancies were merely typos. Of course, the newly formed demolition company by Luna favorite Jaime Escobedo was not on the menu presented by Luna 3/6. The corrupt Escobedo brothers are simply too hot to touch right now. Fake "Doctor" Enrique's corrupt dealings at BISD and Jaime's bloated sole source contracts with the city are becoming common knowledge throughout town.
Here is the video of the exchanges between Zamora, Luna and Vasquez at the City Commission meeting 3/6/12. (The annoying background noise is from a second TV I had tuned to the BISD board meeting. The channel was showing the Charro Days Int'l Parade while the board was in executive session.):
