“Ballot Drawing Slated.”
BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Cameron County Democratic Party today announced that it will hold a drawing for places on the ballot on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 7:00 pm at VFW Post #2035 in Brownsville, located at 1801 Veterans Drive. The public is welcome to attend.
Places for the ballot are drawn on a random basis from a hat. Candidates are called in alphabetical order, and pull out a number which corresponds with their position on the ballot. Candidates are not required to attend, and if candidates are not present, their name may be drawn by a representative.
Monday’s drawing will be in conjunction with a statutory meeting of the County Executive Committee, during which they party will consider issues related to the primary election, as well as a resolution to honor Ms. Alma Barrera, a longtime Democratic activist who recently passed away.
