From the editor: Found this online; popular realtor Craig Grove, illustrating how people in his line of work often take the initiative to protect their client's interests sight unseen. Grove stands beside an inoperative refrigerator he'd come across in an out-of-town client's garage filled with rotted meat.
Craig took it upon himself to act in his customers' best interests, emptying and cleaning the unit, insuring that the folks he represents would not return home to an unfortunate odorous mess in their home.

"Not glamorous. Not fun. But it’s what we do.
People sometimes say REALTORS don’t earn their commission—but they rarely see what really goes on behind the scenes. I usually take the high road and keep quiet, but today was one of those days I had to share.
I stopped by a client’s home to install smoke detectors and take care of a few small tasks. When I walked into the garage, I was hit with a terrible smell. After some investigating, I found a fridge full of meat that had gone bad—completely spoiled from the summer heat after the fridge failed. My clients are out of town, and no one else was going to take care of it… so I did.
It wasn’t fun. It wasn’t pretty. But that’s the kind of stuff REALTORS do every day that no one talks about. We go above and beyond because we care.
So if you’ve got a hardworking REALTOR in your corner—show them some love. We do a lot more than just unlock doors.
