REYNOSA, TAMAULIPAS — A large fire broke out Monday in a trailer parking area just yards from the Pharr International Bridge, prompting a swift emergency response in this busy border city in Tamaulipas.
The blaze erupted along Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta Street, a heavily trafficked corridor lined with customs agencies and industrial warehouses. The site serves as a key staging area for cargo trucks waiting to cross into the United States.
Flames quickly tore through part of the facility, sending thick smoke into the air and raising fears the fire might spread to nearby trailers and infrastructure. Firefighters, civil protection teams, and other emergency personnel were dispatched immediately to battle the blaze and protect the surrounding area.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the fire, and it remains unclear how many vehicles were damaged. As of Monday evening, no injuries had been reported.
The Tamaulipas Security Office said emergency protocols were activated shortly after the fire broke out, with crews working to contain the flames, cool remaining hot spots, and remove debris.
Officials urged the public to stay away from the area near Parque Industrial Boulevard and the international bridge. Access to the site remains restricted due to ongoing safety concerns.
The incident highlights the vulnerabilities of vital trade infrastructure along the U.S.-Mexico border, where thousands of cargo trucks pass daily.
