Over a decade ago, I submitted on this blog some dramatic photos of Boca Chica Beach, but also pics taken from the largely undeveloped area east of Mexico Boulevard, along the Rio Grande River.
At the time, some speculated that the photos might have been taken from a small plane flying over the two areas, but, actually, they were taken by a tiny Chinese camera fastened to the string of a kite.
My son, Diego, with the assistance of my then 4 or 5 year old grandson, Jack(now in high school), flew the kite and captured the photos. I've submitted some photo collages here, courtesy of Pixlr.com.
Diego affixed the camera to the kite string, somehow blocking it from sliding down the string. The camera, twirling round and round the string took hundreds of photos, most not usable. Many, though, were quite dramatic.(The reddish blur across a couple of photos is kite string.)
