This won't be an attempt at a serious review of the movie, "A Complete Unknown," as Dylan fans have seen or will see the film and likely don't want to read someone else's view of it. Sunrise Mall Cinemark had just a smattering of viewers for the 12:50 PM showing in Theater 4, to my left a lady with a walker and, to my right, a gentleman with his white hair tied into a pony tail, and, behind us, about a dozen younger people.
The one Dylan quote I identify with is "being born in the wrong town to the wrong parents." Wherever I've been I've had the feeling of being different, a misfit, not fitting in with those around me despite their good nature.
The opening scene of Dylan in 1961 New York looked familiar to me since I was there in 1958. Just like I used to do when I was ten years old, I found myself wanting to call out the make and model of every 50's car on the street.
Monica Barbaro |
Actress Monica Barbaro gave it a shot, but no one sings like Joan Baez.
I'll stop there as I've already said too much.
