According to digital news site El Paso Matters and the Border Report, several federal agencies have coordinated their efforts to enforce U.S. immigration laws.

The F.B.I, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE), the Department of Homeland Security have all been active in West El Paso rounding up immigrants in the country illegally.

On Wednesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered state law enforcement entities to assist federal law enforcement with border security. Late last week, airplanes carrying soldiers coming to support border security operations arrived in Fort Bliss.

Fernando Garcia, executive director of the Border Network for Human Rights, wants to make certain the process is handled in accord with the Constitution:  “If they come to arrest someone it should be with an arrest warrant, if they come into a house, we want to make sure they have a search warrant."

Garcia said community members on Thursday documented police and immigration officer activity in Canutillo, an unincorporated community just west of El Paso.  Garcia and other advocates have been advising community members, especially those in mixed-status families, undocumented but with U.S. born children, about what could become widespread immigration raids under the Trump administration.
