𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗠𝗔𝗦

OK, so old Emperor Constantine combined the celebration of Jesus' birth with the Roman festival of Saturnalia, commemorating the birthday of the sun, already celebrated on December 25.  Smart dude!  He just wanted everyone in his empire on the same page.

Then, a clever fellow named Dionysius Exiguus came up with B.C. and A.D., before Christ and anno domini (in the year of our Lord) and Pope Gregory XIII put on the finishing touches with the Gregorian Calendar.

And, now we're told that Jesus was actually born in 4 B.C.  I'm fine with that.  I've lied about my age too.

It really doesn't matter to me if a historical Jesus never actually existed.  Even, if he didn't, SOMEONE wrote the Sermon on the Mount and I like that person's way of thinking.

Anyway, like many in town, I'm heading over to be with family and I'll make a mental note to not ask my two precocious grandsons too many annoying questions about school.   Ana's with family in California and will be back soon.

Merry Christmas Brownsville!
