"Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth."
Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda for the Third Reich

In the quote above, Goebbels was actually paraphrasing Hitler's words in Mein Kampf, a book Trump is said to have had on his nightstand and may have read.
If anyone had a legitimate claim that the votes in an election were not counted correctly, it was Al Gore in 2000 who won the popular vote over George W. Bush by 543,895 but lost in the Electoral College when he lost the state of Florida by a mere 537 votes.

Conflicting results have come from attempted recounts, but investigations did make clear that absentee, military and provisional ballots had not been fully counted.
Now as for 2024, it's been extremely disconcerting that Trump seems unworried about actually winning the 2024 election at the ballot box, but has set in motion a process to gain power regardless, promising his followers they "will never have to vote again."
Trump has repeatedly refused to commit to accepting the 2024 election results even in his June 27 debate with Biden.
Meanwhile Trump doubles and triples down his lie that Haitian immigrants are eating the pets of citizens in Springfield, Ohio, following the Hitler/Goebbels playbook and his MAGA followers tend to believe every word.
There's also the huge stain of racism on the Trump/Vance effort as it's typically Brown, Black and Asian folk who are marginalized and largely the "Washingtons," "Roosevelts" and "Gonzalezes" who've been scrubbed off the voting rolls in Republican states, obvious voter suppression done in the name of combating voter fraud.
Wasn't it rich recently when Trump's running mate J.D. Vance admonished the "left" to "tone down the rhetoric" and "cut this crap out," when, on that very same day Trump was referring to Kamala Harris as "Communist," "Marxist," "Comrade Harris" and "fascist?"
Trump continued: "They're scum. And they want to take down our country. They are absolute garbage."
Many of us are simply uneasy about the 2024 election. Will Trump try to overturn the results as he did in 2020 and will he resort to inciting violence on January 6, 2025 as he did in 2021?
Trump's historical love of violence is not reassuring as he's encouraged his followers in the past to "beat up" hecklers, promoted the "shooting" of looters and migrants, mocked the near-fatal attack on the husband of a Democratic Speaker of the House, even suggesting a general he viewed as not Trump loyal be executed.
Scary times for the USA. Do not vote for Trump.
ReplyDeleteLet's get the facts straight. The NYT verified Bush would have won Florida had the Court not stopped the recount. Also the real news never really reported was had New Hampshire voted for Gore, Gore with just those 3 electoral votes would have won.
