Willie Brown
Since walking down the Trump Tower escalator in 2015 to declare for the Presidency, Donald Trump has publicly told tens of thousands of easily-chronicled lies, untruths.

Just yesterday, in an hour-long soliloquy before a "news conference" where he avoided answering a single question directly and honestly, Trump told at least 30 whoppers, lies that can be easily fact-checked.

Two of Trump's most blatant lies today were that he went down in a helicopter crash with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and that the crowd for his January 6, 2021 speech was larger than that of Martin Luther King, Jr. when he gave his "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963.

Both of these two lies are simply too ludicrous to even trouble with fact-checking, but that's not my primary concern as Trump will go to his grave as a pathological, compulsive liar, possibly the greatest single con artist of this century.  Willie Brown says he's never been in a helicopter with Donald Trump and MLK's speech in 1963 had a crowd numbered at 250,000 while Trump's speech generated 53,000, about 1/5th as many, but I don't care about any of that.

What intrigues me is how many relatively intelligent folk, many of them my friends in Brownsville, continue to support Trump, believing his lies.  Again, these true believers, part of the MAGA crowd, are not individuals lacking the sense to come in out of the rain, can balance their checkbooks and are able to drive on our roadways.

Can anyone explain to me how seemingly normal folk with no drool readily escaping their mouths, no diagnosis of mental illness, continue to be duped, tricked and fooled by such an obvious con man.

Please, don't say all politicians lie.  Perhaps, most do, but Trump's pernicious, constant and unnecessary lying can't be explained away like that.

I really want to understand.  How can you support someone who lies EVERY time he moves his teeth?

Is truth-telling no longer important?  Do we no longer teach our children to tell the truth?  Does it no longer matter to us if our spouse consistently lies to us?

Does "thou shalt not lie" no longer belong in the so-called Ten Commandments?

Do you really want such an obvious liar in the most important elected office on Planet Earth?

  1. One reason is that the people that love Trump here in Brownsville admire him because he is rich and he can do anything he wants and not get in trouble. Also, his followers can feel the power and the wealth just by supporting Trump (even though it is the Democrats that pay all their bills). Also, it is nice to support a rich person. What they do not know, is that later comes the pain and the suffering. Argentina elected a Trump follower and now they do not know what to do with him. Venezuela also elected a strong leader and now he is a dictator. So Trump gets in power and then his son will follow and then his other son ....then Americans will be very unhappy.
