Speaker of the House Mike Johnson |
Please understand the psyche of our newly-installed Speaker of the House, Bibleist Mike Johnson, that to him the 9th Commandment "Thou shalt not lie" or "Thou shalt not bear false witness" is not to be strictly, literally obeyed in all circumstances.
The unfortunates raised in a fundamentalist Christian religion will get this.
To those familiar with the Bible-ography, lying is not always lying, but simply Theocratic Strategy as when Abraham lied to ancient King Abimelech saying his wife Sarah was actually his sister, not his wife, so old Abimy wouldn't "touch" her.
This was the rationalization according to the Good Book:
"Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife. 12Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife; 13"
Now, as confusing as this might get, don't conflate Donald Trump's lying with Michael Johnson's Theocratic Strategy.
Mike Johnson will lie when he's Biblically authorized to throw heathens off, while Trump will almost always lie pathologically because he "must."
You see, awkwardly holding up a Bible didn't make Trump's lying Bible-based like Mike Johnson's lying since Trump lacks that inner moral core or to use the phrase Bobby Wightman-Cervantes used to toss around, lacks that "moral compass."
The Trump administration's Kellyanne Conway used the phrase "alternate facts," while the ghost writer for Trump's"Art of the Deal" preferred "truthful hyperbole."
But, Mike Johnson will only lie when the Bible tells him it's OK to do so.
Hopefully, that's reassuring!
