Over a decade ago, a tiny building was available in downtown Brownsville for cheap and I toyed with the idea of creating a music venue like Ben Neece's Crescent Moon.  

"Just slip Permit Director Evaristo Gamez $250 and you'll get your permit," a downtown business owner told me.

No sport is more intensely competitive than the NBA, but there's a certain level of mutual respect, especially among those who've played so well for so long and those poised to prolong that tradition.  

I'm thinking about Lebron James and Luka Doncic who chatted and embraced after yesterday's Mavs-Lakers game.

Actually, I don't view religion as a taboo subject as I penned about fifty articles dissecting religion on another forum. The articles wouldn't be well received here, but that's not really a consideration.

As an observer in Cameron County's 445th court yesterday, I couldn't help but notice a few attorneys I've known for years still working their craft; Luis Sola, Ruben Herrera and even Rene Oliveira.

Oliveira paused a second or two as he walked by: "I guess you've heard about our friend?" he said, referring to Ben Neece.

I nodded.

But that young man with slightly graying hair looks familiar. OMG, that's Matthew Kendall from the DA's office.

Entering the Cameron County District Court building yesterday I ran into a very dapper Robert "Captain" Sanchez.

"When are you going to be on the show?" he asked.

Walking through West Brownsville and downtown I've encountered an abundance of stray, loose dogs. Sometimes, they have collars, but usually not. This problem will escalate quickly as these dogs reproduce.

Just learned recently that Taylor Swift was named after James Taylor. Someday soon, I will listen to some of her music and become an overaged Swiftie.
